Quality but no quantity

I have now eaten dinner here at least 3 times. The food is of a high standard but I always leave hungry as the quantity of food is so small. It's now stopping me going back for a 4th time. The hotel is lovely. The rooms are of a high standard and very clean. The gardens are stunning. It really... read more

I did enjoy what I had but think a few plain dishes on the menu would be welcomed by elderly guests, if we had stayed a third night I would have struggled to pick a dish that wasnt to fussy for me

We celebrated a family birthday with a meal in the restaurant. We spent a lot of money as there was a lot of family members and our expectations were high for receiving the best food in Fife. But unfortunately when a bread roll was lifted, it was noticed that a large thick hair was sticking out of it and well... More

I went to Rufflets Hotel for Sunday lunch on the Sunday before Christmas. I expected the traditional turkey dish on the menu but it wasn't. This pre-Christmas meal started with a soup which, although I expected it to be one of my favourites, was in my opinion too heavily spiced. There were only four main courses on the menu, a... More

In general the food was ok, the turkey was nice as was the vegetarian main course, with butter on the table we assumed bread/rolls were coming, unfortunately we had to ask for them midway through our starter. We had, in advance arranged a meal change for our Son, what they called the 'fussy eater', we did ask for vegetable soup... More

My sister and I had lunch here and we were certainly not disappointed. The quality of the food was superb and cooked to perfection. When asked if a slight adjustment could be made to what was accompanying the steak this was done without hesitation. The starters and main courses were bordering on Fine Dining and as for the desserts (we... More

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comments after the lunch that you clearly enjoyed with us in the Terrace Restaurant. We do work hard to be able to ensure that all the dishes are to our guests' liking - and the wee tweaks here and there can often be made - and without a fuss. Good to... More

One of the best meals I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Opted for pheasant for first time ever and it was just wonderful. Robbie recommended a beautiful S. African sauvignon blanc to complement the dish, just perfect. Service was excellent and timed perfectly between each serving. The restaurant is so warm and welcoming. Beautiful, understated but relaxing decor. Top... More

Delighted to hear how much you enjoyed our breakfast - although I would like to think that it is a true Scottish breakfast - with the English option available for those who dont want to go full out and try our fabulous haggis!! Regards Stephen Owen General Manager More

With 2 AA rosettes the Terrace restaurant really deserves its rating - it is quite pricey, but faultless and therefore worth every penny. The attention to detail of flavours was quite exceptional. I had a grouse starter, lamb three ways and brown butter dessert. Otherwise the hotel was comfortable and the staff were very friendly.

We were pleased to see how much you enjoyed the Terrace restaurant during your recent visit, and thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Getting the balance between the quality and value for money is always a tough thing to do, but to see that it was worth every penny was encouraging. It is interesting to note... More

We dined here last weekend. The menu is modern, exciting and sophisticated, all of the ingredients are sourced locally, ethically and are tempting, and the presentation of the food is visually contemporary and mouth-watering. The meal was delicious, the outstanding note being the starter. I ate crab on a cucumber jelly with orange foam and edible flowers among other things;... More

Dear Tom Chef MacNicoll and the brigade were so pleased to read the comments - and thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts. Great local produce, handled with care, passion and knowledge, and backed up with well-balanced service is what we aim to deliver after-all. Noted the comments on the decor - we are working on this... More
