After a day at the putting and strolling around St Andrews we stopped her for a bite to eat. My Wife had the Burger, my Son and I had a steak. I was cooked to our instruction, presented well and the staff were friendly and helpful too. Will certainly be making a return trip.

We thought we would try the steak barn at Balgrove after hearing good reviews about the place, unfortunately this is not the review we would feedback. Although we never tried the food what we saw did look good, but the shocking service made us leave prior to our order being taken. We looked in just after 12 on a Friday... More

We found the service here to be excellent. As soon as we were in the door, we were greeted and seated, our order taken a short while after. The rib-eye steak was so tender and tasty, the sirloin also very good. The chips and salad were really tasty too, but the side orders and sauces just added that extra oomph.... More

No joke the most original and interesting eating experience for years - loved the shop and butchery especially and lots of store room provisions! Then had lunch in the steak barn - an outside converted barn, rustic but super cool. The best burgers and onion rings. Going to make this a regular when I'm up anywhere near St Andrews. Also... More

The Steak Barn offers poor service. We left without eating. Meat purchased in the shop (rack of lamb) so tough as to be inedible . All fur coat and no knickers! Avoid .

This restaurant offers a super range of snacks and main meals. The scones are massive and a meal in themselves! They also have a deli which you can browse around to find interesting local produce. Definitely worth a visit when in St Andrews.

as regular customers to this restaurant we went to have lunch today and I must say we enjoyed what we had but we intended to have a desert and after asking the young chap taking the orders as to what sweets were on offer he walked past us many times to take orders from other customers who had just arrived... The best of the best beef burger I have ever had in the UK. Its juicy, its full of flavour. And chips are exceptionally tasty as well, my daughter loves them especially. Will sure revisit and have their burger again, not yet try the steak, but looks great as the next table has ordered and looks quite alluring.

Excellent, very efficient, very friendly service, as usual. Grilled goat's cheese salad very tasty and filling. Ham sandwiches and salad equally acceptable. Shared a very large berries, cream and meringue dessert which was lovely. 1 latte and 1 fresh orange juice. £20.60 for 2 people. Excellent value for excellent food. Cafe closes at 5 pm but Steak Barn is open... More
