Second time I've been here and was real good just was annoyed at the amount of wasps going about, couldn't enjoy my meal as I was to busy trying to avoid the wasps and get them away from the baby. Other than that which isn't something the hosts can do much about, service was great and so was the meal... More

One of my favourite places in St Andrews. We stumbled upon it by accident, discovered an aladdins cave of local produce, a proper foodie supermarket with cheese counter, butcher, jams, fruits and lots of Scottish goodies like fudge. Then we had lunch at the Steak Barn outside, simple but delicious in such a well designed barn. Great steak, sausages and... More

A beautiful layout with shelves groaning under excellent produce. Went to buy a couple of items and came out with arms full

I recently visited the Balgrove Larder while on holiday with family. I'd seen some very excellent reviews and sone friends had recommended it to me I have to say I wasn't disappointed. I came in and was greeted by the lovely sight of fresh fruit and vegetables. In fact, when I came in a man was putting out some potatoes... More

We didn't even get a chance to try the food, I popped in with a friend on a weekday lunchtime. It was busy...great, but we waited about 10 minutes by the "please wait to be seated sign" and the staff walked past us again and again, serving customers, even the coffee server, who was about 3 feet from us and... We usually have morning morning coffee with scone, jam and clotted cream - always fresh and delicious. They serve all meals of good quality at reasonable prices. It is very popular so much that perhaps at times it is difficult to get a table, but rarely. Very pleasant staff. A well stocked farm shop. During the summer there is a... More

Converted barn which is part of a larger farm shop/restaurant business, there is often a queue for tables in the main restaurant so we opted to eat here. The food is cooked on an open wood-fired grill, and we had good steak and chips which were done as ordered (medium rare). My only reservation is that the steak had been... More

I have enjoyed many visits to Balgove Larder farm shop and cafe, the food is always lovely and I have always come away with nice things from the shop. I have been keen to try the steak barn for a while so last Saturday my husband and I went for dinner. The place is set up really nicely and there... More

Nice place, just out of town. We just had coffee and scones. Coffee was ok, a little strong for our taste, and cup was a little small. The real problem was the scones. They looked good. Big and steamy hot. However they were under cooked, doughy. Pointed this out and we received an apology.
