The VIC is a twin venue of sorts, like the Olsens, except everyone here is a healthy eater and we don't see ourselves being billionaires anytime soon. There’s the pub/kitchen, which pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin, clinkity clink drinks from crafty craft beer to posher than posh teacup gin serves. Food glorious food, there may or may not be hot sausage and mustard (depending on the day and the chef's mood and whether or not we were able to catch fresh sausages that morning). The social club, although on the same floor as the pub/kitchen, is on an altogether lower level morally. The DJs are fresher than the air up on the 11th hole, totally non generic and they show up and play records really good. Then there's the one off club nights, the ceilidh and a whole bunch of other great stuff. We’re all about cheap as chips food, shin digs befitting of this ancient old town, cocktails, fairy tales, and pretty much anything else we can get away with doing in a licensed premises that won't result in our long suffering manager and his associates spending a casual weekend in the jailhouse.Free wifi access is available every day of the week, ideal if you’ve got a working lunch or just feel like a nosey on Facebook.

best breakfast in town

I only had breakfast here but the food was excellent. I had the full cooked breakfast and would recommend it highly. On the other hand the waitress serving us overlooked our table, messed up the order and was painfully slow. I think she was distracted...I hope.

We stopped here for dinner while in St Andrews. Decor is kinda funky and the staff were friendly and helpful. Kids enjoyed their food. I had fajitas loads of veg and very little chicken. Wouldn't hurry back for food but good to sit and have a drink.

Ok it's a stylish building and what should be the Quaglinio's of St Andrews. But oh dear dear ! Went for fish and chips at £8.45 and that's what I got. Fish and chips in some newspaper ! How ostentatious and silly and crappy . I don't care about presentation. I can't eat newspaper. I'm not a seagull. I want... More

Looking for a place to eat on the opening night of the Open was a challenge. We found this upstairs eatery by recommendation from a guy on the corner. Great burger, made to order. Love the warehouse feel, although the collages on the bathroom doors make finding them, then getting out, a challenge. Easy, inexpensive stop.

The vic had a very relaxed and 'student' feel to it, with very friendly staff. Loved the board games! My boyfriend and I took advantage of the 'buy one get one free burger' and an overload of sides! The burger was a little too chargrilled for me... But the macaroni was to die for! As I said, the waitresses were... More

Thanks for the review, Stephanie. We love that you guys took advantage of our board games and we also have table tennis and Wii Sports set-up in the Social Club just across the landing if you're feeling more energetic! We are disappointed to hear about the service, especially since this isn't to our usual standard. Drop us an email at... More

We went to Vic for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Place wasn't busy , our drinks order was taken very quickly but we had to wait a while do get them (nothing complicated just beers and glass of wine). Our server didn't look very professional, her top was too low and we could see everything! This kind of outfit is acceptable... More

Visited the Vic for a drink after dinner along the road at Forgans. It was a Sunday so it was pretty quiet but still had some atmosphere in spite of that. Having spent a couple of nights drinking craft and real ales around St Andrews I did get a bit of a shock to find a lack of craft beers... More

Thanks for the review, Stewart. We love that you enjoyed our drinks and have taken your comments on board regarding getting more craft ales. We actually work closely with our friends along the road at Eden Brewery and have a local cask ale on but they are very popular and sell out super quickly which is why none was available... More

Trendy place seems to be targeting the students in the evernings but we were there before it got busy. I had the best chicken fajitas ever! Highly recommended, great value for money.
