Great food but leave yourself plenty of time

Third visit today to the Wheelhouse. We hadn't booked but reception staff managed to get us a table in quiet area as requested. Been to this restaurant a few times and it's been ok but this time it wasn't so good. My husband had sirloin steak which was tasteless and I has a salmon and prawn salad which looked like a dogs dinner. My grandaughter had macaroni which looked like it was a ready meal. My daughter had haddock which was lovely. I'm... More

This was about the 3rd time I had been here, but the first time with all the family. We had a lovely meal with good service. Plate servings were big. They even gave a wee ham sandwich at the end to the toddler who had splept through the whole family meal. The one or two criticisms would be that my... More

We were seated at a window which was nice and we ordered our food ( eventually ), on our glasses for water were replaced 3 times because they were not clean. The starter came ( scallops and black pudding ) and although it was nice it did not taste like traditional Stornaway black pudding which is advertised. The main courses... More

We had heard good things about the Wheelhouse from friends and colleagues. Everyone has been. So with 1 chance to align the family for a meal out this summer, we pre-purchased tesco vouchers and booked a table. It took a few calls to book a table. Perhaps the staff were all busy serving - but with no visable online table... More

This was our fourth visit to the Wheelhouse, we thought that we would see if it had improved, it was our wedding anniversay so we booked a table, so where do I start, we thought that gbp 15.20 was rather steep for 2 glasses of wine ( more expensive than Glasgow city centre ).We ordered a bottle of the same... Tonight we enjoyed a lovely meal out at the wheelhouse. The food was great, but what really made the experience was the wonderful customer service we received. My 16mth old son, has severe egg and dairy allergies , that make eating out together as a family difficult and stressful. However when I phoned the wheelhouse, the lovely lady Lynn who... More

It was very busy on the day we visited as several bus parties had arrived at once. Finding a table was a challenge. As it was a hot day more tables outside would have helped spread the crowd more evenly. Service was prompt and the food typical of what you get at any attraction.

Lunch time visit was an opportunity to enjoy the outside dining area. Tremendous varied menu selection does make choices difficult. It is fair to say there is plenty for everybody to select. Rustic bread with olives, haggis/neeps/tatties, bruschetta, fajitas, smoked haddock risotto were amongst the picks and each was excellent ! All this and well looked after by Sarah. Well... More
