Description: Tucked away on Thistle Street, Iris has been a welcome addition to the Edinburgh restaurant scene. This chic little bistro - with its designer wallpaper, banquette seating and rough stone walls – has an intimate, cosmopolitan vibe, and is popular with a discreet and sophisticated creative crowd. The modern European menu is guaranteed to impress, we love the roast duck breast with fresh raspberries and Drambuie; chicken supreme stuffed with langoustines served with a garlic and herb buerre blanc; and the roasted quail with spicy potatoes served with an orange and rocket salad. Ideal for stylish working lunches, and informal evening meals, Iris also has an extensive wine list with up to 17 bottles for under £20.

When in Edinburgh we always try to eat in this Resturant, the quality of the food is excellent ( Mussels as a starter to die for), main courses are equally as good lamb, or chicken or the fish everything in this Resturant is top quality.

We discovered this place 2 years ago on a wet August evening, the staff were great about seating us despite having no booking. We couldn't wait to return again the following year, the ribeye is that good! Lovely atmosphere & friendly staff.

Wandered in on a busy Saturday night. We're were greeted warmly and received great service. I had the sea bass and my wife had salmon. Both were very good. Topped off with a traditional sticky toffee pudding. Nice atmosphere.

I came here with my husband and managed to get a great seat by the window. Service was professional and friendly. I had seabass en papillotte and my husband had Cod and both our dishes were fresh and had lovely balanced flavours. A lovely experience all in all and good value. I can't believe we haven't come before.

I came here for my birthday the first time in April and we all loved it. It was so good I then recommended it for a works dinner. Great food, good atmosphere and amazing service. I had the scallops to start, followed by the lamb Wellington. Both cooked perfectly.

Was recommended by a friend of a friend. A Little Gem of a restaurant tucked away in Thistle St. Beautiful restaurant, lovely calm décor. Great lunch time menu up until 18.30!! 3 course for just under £17. Fantastic food, and excellent service. The young girl, can't remember her name, was just a delight. If you wish to get away from... We enjoyed a two course meal her.Food was fab.The staff were very attentive and although the restaurant was busy they kept on top of orders and checked regularly if you needed anything. The only negative was we ordered a bottle of rose wine which came in a wine cooler however this had no ice or water in it so was clearly... There isn't a huge menu but what there is, is done well. The staff are friendly and attentive (without being in your face). Would recommend the rib-eye as a main but have it without the garlic fries.

The 4 ladies took a trip to Scotland and on the first day in Edinburgh, we opted to have dinner at Iris. It didn't disappoint. I had a delicious Crispy Roast Salmon dish. The salmon was set upon giant couscous and it all was swimming in a tomato broth. The flavors were oh, so good. The fish was cooked to... More

A hidden jewel, from a group of fussy picky foodies this meal was excellent, 5 people, 3 courses each, 12 different plates of food all excellent, can't rate high enough to be honest, lovely waitresses, small misunderstanding with prosecco but sorted. I strongly advise a visit.
