My partner said it was the nicest curry he's ever had! I chose the house dish "Mum's Deshi" - the chicken was slow cooked and fell off the bone, just delicious!

At the risk of sounding a sour note among the good reviews, we didn't enjoy our meal at this restaurant. The spices didn't taste fresh, the garlic tasted stale, the coriander was dry, the naan bread was dry and a peculiar yellow, the pilau rice was just white rice sprinkled with little flecks of green and pink. The sauces were... More

I thought we would try this place having read the reviews and it did not disappoint. Really fantastic food, which tasted home cooked, rather than the standard Indian fare you often get at restaurants. Wonderful flavours and friendly service would mean its on my list of places to visit again - definitely!

There were 15 of us (all guys) so we pre-ordered the starters and main course from the varied menu - that was at the suggestion of the restaurant and it certainly helped speed up service. Feedback from the guys was that the curries were really good - the portions were generous and so as usual we were all pretty stuffed... More

We started our celebration of my son's 21st birthday here with a meal for 20. The food was great and the service friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good curry.

Family run established restaurant, famous for the 'Kismot Killer' The rest of their menu is as you would expect. Quite a basic place when you look around at the decor but in it's favour is that it is a 'bring your own wine/beer' so great for the budget! Well worth a visit, best to book in advance if going at... I chose this restaurant due to the excellent reviews on TA. I was not disappointed and every single aspect of the meal and service was incredible. The waiter was so incredibly polite and helpful and his service was the best i have ever recieved at an indian restuarant. We went as a group of four and we all agreed that... More

We visited Kismot in December 2013 based on TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed with any aspect of the meal, so when we came back to Edinburgh we wanted to be sure we went back! We were pressed for time so we opted to get a takeaway which was, to be honest, embarrassingly bad. We were told it would be... More

We've visited the Kismot a few times now and I expect we will carry on doing so. The quality of food is always great, curries fresh, staff welcoming, venue comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, prices reasonable. I literally can't muster a bad word to say.

The welcome and service was super friendly, the decor appealing and appropriate without being pretentious and the food was simply brilliant! There is plenty of choice and with our party of 6 all the curries were tasty, unique and perfectly seasoned. If I was a local this would be my weekly treat/guilty pleasure.
