Late dinner but plenty of people in the restaurant having a good time. Place is BYOB with no corkage which saves ££. Chose the irn bruna curry which tasted great and had a good choice of vegetables. Shared rice and nan between two and had main course each: this was plenty of food for us having a late-ish dinner. The... More

Went as part of a pre booked group of 16. We were given a table fit for 12 people and told to squash in and sit 2 people to each end. The manager didn't see why this was a problem and wasn't interested. Food very slow to come out. We were told Kismot killer was not available because we had... More

We have been using this restaurant for the last ten years since we have been regular visitors to Edinburgh. It is a family run business and the food is absolutely excellent. You will find it difficult to get better food any where in Edinburgh. The son has just opened a new restaurant, "The Killer" in Tollcross Edinburgh, and we hope... More

My daughter suggested this restaurant after having had a great meal there 18 months ago and we were not disappointed. Lovely, family-run restaurant where nothing seemed too much trouble. Do try the chocolate and marshmallow naan - sounds a strange thing to have with curry but we loved it!

Kismot was a self discovered restaurant for me while walking down St. Leonards Street.... Interiors are done in a very tastefully manner. Food is good besides service is really fast....

Tried the special dish - Mum's Deshi. Great flavour and was introduced to Mum in the kitchen afterwards. We have been to Kismot a few times and it never disappoints - delicious food and a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

If you like your curry hot, then this is your place- they even advertise a curry so hot that it's free if you can finish it! Still their less spicy dishes also very tasty and had a home-cooked feel.

The service is good. If you like Indian food you must visit this restaurant with warm atmosphere. But the prices are very very high. Nearly all the dishes are 40 Sterlings which is high on edinburgh restaurant avarages.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
