Best italian in edinburgh

Came here for a nice meal after a few drinks and we weren't dissappointed. I had the mussels in tomato sauce with bread to start and my fiancé had the filo prawns. Both were lovely! For main we both ordered the chateaubriand, it was lovely and chargrilled on the outside and nice and juicy and pink... read more

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant to us when we said we were looking for an Italian restaurant. The restaurant was exceptionally busy and despite booking, we had a 15 minute wait for a table. However, the dining experience was well worth the wait. The waiting staff were attentive and courteous and were always on hand- as was the owner... More

On a quick, first time visit to Edinburgh, I chose Guilianos for supper on my last night. Often, asking for a table for one results in being offered a spot at the back of the restaurant or by the kitchen door. Not a bit of it at Guilianos! Despite them being exceptionally busy, catering for a very big and lively... More

Noticed this restaurant when exploring Edinburgh and thought it looked nice so decided to try it. Very glad we did! We both had pasta dishes, and they were easily the best pasta we've had outside of Italy. The ice cream for dessert tasted just like the amazing gelato remembered from our trip to Italy last year, and all in all... More

This used to be one of my favourite eateries when I lived in Edinburgh ten years ago and on a recent visit, I discovered that Giuliano's is still fantastic. The food was delicious, service was attentive and the cost was reasonable. We went for half pasta, small pizza and were both more than happy with our food. I would highly... More

My wife and I came here for a second time. We previously had their pre-theatre menu which was great, so we came back for a full meal. All of our choices were superbly cooked and presented. The seafood was magnificent and the pasta cooked to p.erfection. Highly recommended

Hadn't been here for a while, but came with friends from Irvine. Won't wait as long again before I'm back. Restaurant was lovely, service was excellent and the meal was just to die for. Goes to the top of my list! Thanks Angelo.

After a rather late flight to Edinburgh, my girlfriend had a serious craving for Spaghetti Carbonara. Most restaurants were closed, or about to, but the helpful staff at Apex Waterloo gave us directions to Giuliano's. Except for one party leaving we had the whole place to our self. Perfect for us after a long day of travel. Service was quick... More

Have visited this restuarant on a number of occasions and always enjoyed the food, service etc. Visited yesterday and seated towards the back of the restaurant, had a slightly grumpy young waitress who wasn`t quite on form and required to be reminded on a couple of occasions that we were still waiting on drinks(excellent service from a friendly scottish waiter).... Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
