Great for a pre theatre meal

I have visited on a few occasions prior to going to a show at the Playhouse. Calzone pizza was delicious, good choice for gluten free dining. Service is efficient as a lot of customers will be going to the theatre.

Not impressed by the size of the portions; have had bigger starters. The food was ok but nothing special despite the price. My plate was greasy althought the glasses were sparkling. There were plenty of staff but the service was poor. Initially one of the waiters came over and poured our wine when he saw our glasses were emptying but... More

We visited the restaurant on Saturday for a work colleagues leaving do, disappointingly we were given a table right at the front door, so people on the table were close to freezing everytime the door opened, but as it was full i suppose we were just unlucky. Foodwise the meal was awful, my starter a filo pastry with prawns i... More

Giulianos is our restaurant of choice when going to the theatre in Edinburgh as it is located across the street from the Playhouse. Once again on this visit we ate an early dinner and as per previous visits we were treated to great service, and an even better meal. The extensive menu is bursting with mouth watering dishes, and all... More

visited with a group of work colleagues and were looked after form the time of arrival to our departure several hours and many bottles of wine later! The menu was extensive and I had great difficulty in deciding which dish to go for.Considering the size of our party ,they coped very well and the meals were served together and in... More

It's been a while since I ate here, I remembered why last night, the service is too fast for my liking. I arrived after the pre Theatre rush, people seemed to be pouring out of the entrance, as a result it was not that busy and a table for one was not an issue. Once seated a drink order was... More

We booked here on the advice of my daughter, who ate there before a show at the Playhouse Theatre. A really nice atmosphere with great food and value. There was wide range of customers, from couples like us to a 70th birthday party group. The service was very good but not too in your face, as it can be in... More

I wish to start by saying the food was excellent however it is the most rushed meal I have ever eaten! The waiter was actually standing beside my mum with her main course in his hands waiting for her to finish her starter!! We had 3 waiters clearing our starters as the main courses were placed in front of us.... More
