Buffet on a budget

Went for a quick lunch with work colleagues. Excellent service & food. Limited choice of starter or main, but the quality of food makes up for it. Plus for the hungry eater you can visit the buffet as many times as you like for £7.95, with dessert thrown in!

I eat a lot in Indian restaurants in Southhall (London), where medium dishes are hot. I had a vindaloo here and it was not at all hot. Also disappointing in flavour, tasting more of dried than fresh spices. Average, but perfectly acceptable! Staff very helpful. Buffet highly recommended by friend, but it finishes at 7.30 and we just missed it.... More

Since my wife and my friends were in Scotland, we were desperately looking for Indian food. Roaming in Edinburgh, we observed Red Fort. We went for lunch buffet, the food was very good and affordable. The restaurant is impressive and the ambience is really very good. The service was amazing and manager very kind. If you guys are looking for... More

Had a lovely, chilled-out date night at Red Fort. There were a lot of different dishes to choose from, and they all sounded equally tasty. Our waiter was polite and you could tell he wanted us to have a great dining experience. Our food looked great and tasted amazing. The flavours were strong and pleasing. Overall, had a really relaxed... More

Me and 2 chums came up to Edinburgh from Surrey for a lads weekend. I encouraged them to hit up the Red Fort because I used to frequent it when I did the festival circuit. I was amazed that the prices hadn't gone up a penny, it was the same staff and food had got better if anything! All of... More

Popped in here as it was close by when staying at Ibis South Bridge. .Its BYOB, we just had a couple of cokes. Food was fab. dropped a star as service was a bit indifferent. Bill was reasonable. Would visit again.

Lovely and chilled place. My mum and I visit often for the lunch buffet which is delicious and very reasonably priced at £7.95. Great service too. One of my favorite little spots in town.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
