Good

I have been there for dinner, it was good. Kind personnel, quite big. It's ten minutes from high street, quite easy to reach. It's an indian restaurant, you can choose the buffet until 7.00 pm , that is cheap, or the menu a la carte. Normal price, good food. It was quite busy because there was the... read more

I got take away from here once, and it was fine. The tikka masala was too sweet but otherwise flavourful.

Terrible service, our waiter didn't say a word to us the entire meal, just a few grunts here and there... and the food, oh god. THE WORST Indian food I've ever tasted. Never, ever go here!

We went as a group of 9 slightly drunk men and had a fantastic time. The staff worked flat out to keep the place buzzing and the pack place happy. They did a great job. We were to late for the buffet so had the main menu. The menu was small but full of excellent options. Well priced and with... More

I've only eaten at the lunch buffet, so my review is limited to that. The buffet consists of 3 or 4 meat/chicken dishes, and three or 4 vegetarian dishes. There is a choice of starters, both meat based and vegetarian, with chutneys, sauces, and salads Plain rice and Pilau rice are offered. Naan bread. A soft drink, coffee and a... More

Went on a busy Saturday night of the Fringe Festival and clear this restaurant couldn't cope. Was very busy and although we had booked a table for 7:15 the table wasn't ready for 7:30. Not ideal when you have a show booked. For our table of 5, we ordered 5 mains of which 3 arrived completely cold. The rice was... More

Visited Edinburgh for Fringe and was drawn by Red Fort for its £8.95 buffet (student price). We arrived 10 mins before the buffet ended, but decided to stay and order from the standard menu (still only spent £15). The service was great & our waiter was very friendly. The food came quickly & tasted excellent - possibly one of the... More

The first employee to serve was very nice and warm. However, the waiter to take our order and serve our table throughout dinner was rude, pressured us to order instead of giving us more time and was a brute taking the plates out of our table. The food was really good and I want to go back to give another... More

We ate a la carte on a busy Friday night. Service was good and food was OK. but the ladies toilets were absolutely disgusting - see photo. Grime like that does no accumulate overnight so goodness knows the last time the toilets were cleaned. We will most certainly not be returning.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
