Great food experience

If you only visit one restaurant inEdinburgh, let it be this! The food is SO fresh, so subtle, so Scottish and yet so modern. The staff was absolutely wonderful and we ended up eating here twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch is very inexpensive - dinner more normal prices. The freshly foraged chanterelles, the hollandaise, even... More

We have had a mix of experiences in this restaurant and this time it was excellent. The lunch menu had lots of fish choices and they were all beautifully presented and tasty. The portions are small . Do try their homemade focccacia it is very good and so is the forage salad. The service was excellent. It was busy so... More

Came for Saturday lunch and enjoyed the food. However our table was in the tiny basement which although they have tried to make the most of the small space, it does feel less of an experiece.

I heard amazing things about this place, so went for lunch with family. Was very disappointed. I ordered the venison meatballs, and it was lukewarm, and the portions are tiny. To put this into perspective, I got three small meatballs with about two tablespoons of couscous and a small drizzle of yogurt. Went with my younger sister, who is six,... More

Make reservations! We had the Taste of Scotland menu which was the perfect first dinner of our week long trip. We got to try a number of things we wouldn't have normally ordered and all was prepared well. While we didn't love everything, we were really glad we tried the tasting menu. Service was wonderful and the dining room is... More

After proposing to my now fiancée earlier in the day I had booked a table at The Wedgwood for a celebratory evening meal, and I'm so happy I did. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and the staff made a fuss of my partner and I as they knew about the day's events. We both had three courses and... More

Atmosphere was fine (quiet dining room) and the service was good, but the food unfortunately was not. Soup was too salty and everthing was just a little off. We were underwhelmed, unfortunately.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
