My husband and I ate here during the fringe festival and it was delicious! The restaurant is quite small but the food was really good. Well worth a visit.

I came here with a large group near the end of our golf trip to Scotland. Of course, my vegan meal was a special request made ahead of time by the tour director, but the chef did a great job. My soup and main course were delicious and looked comparable in detail of presentation to my friends' dishes. Service was... More

We ate at Wedgewood on a Sunday during the Festival. We had the set lunch which must be one of Britain's great bargains at £16.95 for three courses. The food was beautifully presented and a lesson in using reasonably priced ingredients ( i.e. cheap cuts of meat) in an imaginative way . The staff are delightful and the service excellent... More

My partner and I have eaten here twice. Once for dinner to try it out, the second time as lunch for 17 people after our wedding in Edinburgh. We were so happy with the food (imaginative, beautifully presented), and with the level of professionalism and friendliness of everyone involved. Lisa and Glen were both really helpful and enthusiastic, which gave... More

I had heard the menu here was impressive and it certainly did not disappoint. What a great way to try quality local ingredients with friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff suggested some great wines by the glass to complement each of the dishes ordered. Highly recommend trying the venison served with the pureed squash, black pudding mash, creamed... More

An excellent and reasonably priced lunch time menu elegantly presented by a charming waitress. I particularly enjoyed the haggis balls which was a new way of serving for me. Portions were just the right size for lunch. Wine was also affordable. This place will certainly be on our list for a return visit next Festival.

We went during our visit to the Fringe. I suppose we were expecting a lot from this restaurant, and for the price of some of the main courses especially, we were not too impressed (e.g. £30 steak that was no better than a £20 steak elsewhere, and a slightly tough venison steak). Overall we did enjoy our dinner. I certainly... More

My boyfriend and I ate at Wedgwood for a late, romantic dinner on the last night of our time in Edinburgh. We could not have made a better choice! We both had the Wee Taste of Scotland tasting menu, and all of the courses were delicious. We especially loved the bread and butter putting, the pressed lamb's tongue, and the... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
