Relocated from Castle Douglas to Leith (lucky for us), The Plumed Horse is the brainchild of superstar Chef/Proprietor Tony Borthwick who earned the restaurant a Michelin Star in 2001. Although the move to Leith has meant giving up the star it can’t possibly be too long before the Plumed Horse is decorated again. Stylishly simple, the restaurant is all white walls, white linen and light and airy space, the ideal backdrop to an evening of gastronomic delights. The imaginative menu has lost nothing in its relocation, still boasting impressively modern cuisine with a good classical twist and presentation which almost stops you digging in with that fork. The Plumed Horse’s star has certainly not fallen

Fantastic set lunch

Bought a Amazon voucher for the taster menu. And had a fantastic meal, yet again. Can't wait for our next visit.

We treated ourselves to lunch here having been a few times in the past and actually had the pleasure of having a business lunch the week it first opened following its relocation from Dumfries. It lived up to its reputation of a very friendly and efficient service of a set lunch menu with a glass of Prosecco and a few... More

We dined here tonight using a voucher for an 8 course taster menu that we got as a Christmas present. We hadn't heard of this place so we are very glad we got this present as we will most definitely return after our experience tonight. The food was beautifully presented and every course was absolutely delicious. My husband had the... More

My partner and I booked this week for the evening taster menu. We were expecting great food and perhaps to try a few things we'd never eaten before. We were absolutely right. Every course was incredible, perfectly cooked and a fantastic combination of flavours. The haggis bon bon canapé, John Dory fish course, beetroot meringues and the lemon and fennel... More

Visited restaurant on Friday 6th March, had the 7 course tasting with paired wines. Absolutely fantastic, cannot wait to go back no try it all over again. There are slight seasonal changes to menu so looking forward to trying something different next time. Beautifully decorated restaurant, staff are friendly and extremely knowledgable with regards to their menu and wines. If... More

We lunched out on a voucher we received as a present. The restaurant was well furnished and the staff welcoming. The food was excellently prepared and presented, with some very tasty combinations. The service was perfect. We will return but will remember to examine the bill before paying to avoid tipping twice again.

Hello Hotel_user_7 Glad you enjoyed the restaurant. Oh dear. You tipped us twice? That's not good. If you are using an Amazon Deal it does say quite clearly that a discretionary 10% service charge will be added. This does not apply to our regular menus. I would have asked for it back....I still would actually. Give me a call. 0131... More

Visited here last night and enjoyed a wonderful meal. Weather terrible outside, but restaurant, although not busy, had lovely warm atmosphere as usual. When is this restaurant going to get its well deserved and long-overdue Michelin star!! The food and service never disappoints and it definitely one of the best places to eat in the city.

Thanks ralston, So good to have your opinion expressed here. We do know that Michelin do like us a lot but who knows what the Star Thing is all about. We'd love to have it back again and to that end it is generally felt by many of our diners believe us worthy. Would be great. Really great. We are... More
