Good but expensive

Went along on a deal which offered a bit of discount, just as well. One of my kids had two small glasses of coke, £1.75 each from a large bottle that would cost about £1:50 and serve up about 40 of the glasses we were given. Good was very good but didn't come out at the same time, service not... read more

This place is is a little gem. We met here with friends that live in Edinburgh and had a wonderful meal of a variety of sush from the menu and specials board followed by a divine banana frittas afters. It was so good that out of the 3 nioghts we stayed inthe city we ate here 2 of the nights,... More

What a fantastic find. Fabulous food and the service could not be faulted. Authentic cooking that can be viewed as you wait for your food. Intimate rather than large dining area and everyone who arrives seems very pleased that they are there! The only small complaint is that the ventilation system in the kitchen is not fantastic so be prepared... More

Friendly atmosphere although perhaps a bit crowded. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. Liked it so much we have visited twice since!

I used to go here frequently, before there were many other sushi places in town. Hadn't been for a while before we went for lunch one Sunday recently. It was empty and the service was dreadful. Waiter spent more time looking at his phone than waiting. Kitchen staff were audibly swearing in earshot of my young child. No atmosphere at... More

We came here as part of an itison deal. My friends are a little more clued up on Japanese food and so I let them order and we shared everything on the table. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious...so nice in fact that we ordered more :). The only negative was that we felt a little awkward as... More

Always really enjoy the food here. The beef tataki is particularly good. Presentation is different every time depending on what you're ordering but is always beautiful. Has become my regular!

The bento box was quite decent. Love the salmon teriyaki. However the salmon was not that fresh. Love the Takoyaki! Green tea is not refillable! :(

Great venue, greeted by very lovely friendly staff. Good set lunch deal. Although we went a la carte. Quite small portions, and if I'm honest a little bland. Obviously very popular with students as was busy at the time. But not up there with my favourite Japanese restaurants. The food just lacked flavour and authenticity. I will always try places... Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
