Description: Set in the heart of Edinburgh is Hanam's Kurdish and Middle Eastern Restaurant and if you think that's a mouthful, wait until you see what on offer! Voted one of Britain's Top 5 Middle Eastern Restaurants by the Telegraph, owner Ahmed ensures the personal touch, by being there seven days a week to offer advice and banter. The menu offers starters such as falafel and baba ghanoush, main courses that include Kurdish pizzas, vegetarian casseroles and halal meat dishes, such as Kurdish-style lamb biryani. There are also a selection of shish kebabs and desserts. Three courses from this banquet-like menu will cost an average of just £20 per person. And, if you're so inclined, you can even smoke a traditional hookah after your meal.

Had the platter to share for 4. Authentic tasting food but slightly over priced for what we had. Could of done with a bit more meat rather than couscous Take your own wine, there is no corkage fee

Pleasant décor, clean and tidy. Service was fast, efficient and very friendly. An extensive menu to choose from. Note that they do not serve any alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own ... they do however have de-alcoholised options available. The portions (both starters and mains) were quite large and flavoursome … we could not finish it all.... More

Nice ambiance, warm welcome, excellent food .... and the lovely Ali. I am veggie and there were plenty of delicious options, the Cardamon & Saffron Ice Cream is fab.

I recommend the mixed kabob. It is a meal and a half and contains some of their best meats. To finish the baklava and arabic coffee cannot be beat.

I've never had a good dining experience in Edinburgh. However, that changed yesterday after a dinner visit to Hanams. Experience started with the greeting at the door - warm and friendly. Layout of the restaurant is great - nice and spacious not at all cramped. The dinner didn't disappoint either - best lamb kebab I've eaten, with bread that you... More

Had a great late/lunch early dinner, really tasty and huge portions. We had chicken wings, lamb fill parcels, hummus with naan to start, two qosy lamb with rice and the 3 kebab Kurdish kebabs with sauces and naans all lovely. The naans were the lightest most flavoursome we'd ever tasted. Definitely return soon

We went as a couple a couple of nights ago and it was lovely. I am actually on a low carb diet but managed. we had hummus shawarma, babaganoush and haloumi for starters and it all came very fast, fresh and obviously hand made. The flat bread is to die for and even with the low carb diet I had... More

We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful experience. My husband's dish, I wish I could remember the name, was amazing, the chicken was juicy, but crispy, without the skin. And he got the pomegrante rice, which was delicious. My dish was great, too. One note - if you're looking for alcohol, don't go here, everything is non-acoholic. Just... More

We met up with a friend who had found this restaurant online and thought it sounded interesting. The whole experience was great- good service well flavoured tasty food attentive staff. Could not fault anything. We also took our own wine so it was a very good value meal. We had a sharing option which was more than plenty for us... More
