Description: Set in the heart of Edinburgh is Hanam's Kurdish and Middle Eastern...
Set in the heart of Edinburgh is Hanam's Kurdish and Middle Eastern Restaurant and if you think that's a mouthful, wait until you see what on offer! Voted one of Britain's Top 5 Middle Eastern Restaurants by the Telegraph, owner Ahmed ensures the personal touch, by being there seven days a week to offer advice and banter. The menu offers starters such as falafel and baba ghanoush, main courses that include Kurdish pizzas, vegetarian casseroles and halal meat dishes, such as Kurdish-style lamb biryani. There are also a selection of shish kebabs and desserts. Three courses from this banquet-like menu will cost an average of just £20 per person. And, if you're so inclined, you can even smoke a traditional hookah after your meal.

It is a mystery to us that this place only has 4 and a half stars, it should be 5! Every aspect of our experience here was perfect. Perfect location with great view of Victoria Street, excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service and very reasonable prices with the added bonus of byob.

This was not our first visit to Hanam's and we were not disappointed on our return. The interior of the restaurant is so welcoming and you could forget your actually in a capital city, Edinburgh. The décor is great. The menu offers a superb selection of meals. Something for everyone. Last time we ordered far too much, but this time... More

As a vegetarian traveller, I'm allways a bit curious of what I'll have to eat when I'm visiting a new country or city. In Edinburgh this was not a problem at all. That been said, the quality vary a lot - but Hanam's is right there on the top of the scale. The food is SO good, the portions huge... More

Came across this restaurant by chance on Saturday lunch time. Lovely friendly service -Ali was charming and helpful. I choose the Mushakal kebab -gorgeous succulent meats and soft rice -perfect meal -really enjoyed it -huge portion too. Husband had a wrap which he also really enjoyed. Too full for a pudding but Ali gave us 2 gorgeous almond sweets with... More

Visited this fine establishment with my partner recently on a Saturday evening. Chose the Halloumi for starter which was bloody delicious and the Iranian style Mushakal kebab which tasted amazing and could have filled a horse with the epic portion. Would come back here again for sure and the BYOB is a excellent addition too. Highly recommend.

Delicious food, great service. Highly recommended. Probably the best baba ganoush in Edinburgh. Will definitely be coming back.

Lukewarm food, distinctly average taste, close to tasteless, food and service difficult, cold food sent back, staff running round like headless chickens, surely there are better restaurants in the City, coffee undrinkable you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the state of the toilet... Oh dear...

Family of three including 7 years old girl had a lovely launch at the restaurant after long walk. Cosy atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff (many thanks to Ali & Lava!), very generous portions - despite everyone has been really hungry and everything has been rather delicious, me and my daughter could not manage the whole portion. Child's meal spiciness has been... More
