Great burgers but book

We were very lucky to get a table on Saturday. Someone had not turned up. All the other tables were reserved and there was a time limit how long you can stay. That's how popular it is! It's cosy and good for football fans and dog lovers. Our burgers were scrumptious.

Really disappointed, we phoned to make a reservation and was told that they don't take reservations and to come, have a drink and a table will be free when ready. So we turned up, registered our interest for a table and was told around an hour to wait. That was fine with us and we had a few drinks however... More

Always a popular spot for lunch, we luckily managed to grab a seat by the warm open fire and order up some tasty burgers. Staff are friendly and there is a great range to choose from on the menu. Each burger is an impressive size but can often get messy if refusing to give in to a knife & fork!

Pretty extensive menu, unpretentious decor and friendly service. Apart from all the televisions there is little to complain about. Pretty much perfect and all the hot sauce you can ask for.

We are here are searching for the best burgers in Edinburgh. This is a proper pub serving restaurant quality burgers. So many different toppings and the Cajun fries were amazing. Good selection of beer too. So good we went twice!

My wife and I spent a 4 day mini-moon in Edinburgh at the end of October. The Cambridge Bar was known to me via a friend from Edinburgh. Ellie & I visited on the first and second night of our trip. The bar was cosy and friendly and we couldn't get over how amazing the burgers looked! based on the... More

I was looking for a bar to watch football live on Sky, so popped in the Cambridge bar and enquired if they would be showing the game. The waiter was very helpful locating me in a seat with a great view of the TV and assured me that the sound would be on when the game started. The beer or... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
