Easily the best meal of our entire trip! Fine food, beautifully prepared with flavor to match, this was a winner. The plaice with carrot ginger sauce was amazing. The gooseberry souffle was divine. Service was friendly and professional. While one could spend a lot here with the addition of wine, the meal itself (the set lunch menu) was very reasonable... More

We had our 3 year wedding anniversary at the restaurant. It is located in beautiful surroundings in Leith and we were not disappointed by the intriguing interior upon entering. It was a nice surprise to be welcomed by Tom Kitchin while waiting for our table. There was also an anniversary greeting card at our table, which i think was a... More

This place had been on my "to-do" list for some time. I finally managed to book a table on a Saturday evening at a time that suited us. We were not disappointed. Tom Kitchin took the time to talk to his guests both before and after dinner, which was a nice touch. The service was very good and the food... More

Decided to try The Kitchin whilst we were in Edinburgh, after being recommended by our son, who'd visited it last year. Chose the 3 course lunch menu, with wine pairing. Of course it's not just 3 courses, because there's the nibbles and dip in the bar beforehand and a very tasty pea velouté after arriving at the table. Really attentive... More

We went for lunch and wanted to try one of the tasting menus. When we asked about it, they suggested one of us have the classic menu with signature dishes while the other would have the seasonal menu. That worked wonderfully well, enabling us to try a dozen dishes between us. Liked the map showing where the food is sourced.... More

Having eaten in a lot of Michelin restaurants, I had decided to stay away from them as the experience had been uniformly poor. Ramon Salto my favorite chef in India persuaded me to try Kitchin while in Edinburgh. It was an experience that changed my opinion about Michelin restaurants. The food was simply awesome. We had the tasting menu with... More

Four of us ate here for dinner. We did feel a little under-dressed when we arrived but there is no formal dress code so we soon got over that. Had some great drinks in the bar area before being taken to our table. We had a booth near the window to the kitchen. I was sat below it so couldn't... More

I feel pretty special that I got a hair in my food...in a Michelin star restaurant I think that's probably a rare occurrence! We had a lunch with champagne and wine. The service was great, attentive without being stuffy and overbearing and I liked the little maps of Scotland showing the locations where ingredients are sourced. I enjoyed the crudités... More

Decided to eat lunch here on a recent cruise round the UK. Very handy. About a 10 minute stroll from the dock at Leith. Managed to get a table for Thursday lunch by calling that morning. Cozy atmosphere with welcoming staff. The restaurant is busy with tables at a premium so you may get your aperitif and coffee in the... More

It has taken us months to get a table at The Kitchin, so much so that expectations were running high and I was worried that we'd be let down. Thankfully I had not read some of the reviews on here first, because they clearly are talking about a different restaurant. This is not just about the food, its about the... More
