As regular customers we were excited about the revamp. Very happy to say that this lovely restaurant has been refurbished to an amazing standard but happily is still "The Kitchin". Simply the best in Scotland. We dined on re-opening day and enjoyed a fabulous lunch. Food and service is exceptional. Mrs Kitchin designed the new interior which is fabulous and... More

Classic taster menu was delicious and immaculately presented, showcasing top quality local produce from all across Scotland and northern England. Staff knowledgeable and attentive. White wine was excellent but both bottles of red were a bit on the cold side - they said the temperature of their cellar.

The poor reviews were clearly nonsense. It is surely not a coincidence that many of them are riddled with poor syntax, spelling and punctuation. As I always say in these cases, the reviews say more about the reviewers than the reviewed. The food was full of interesting, varied flavours and textures. The recommended wine pairings were not what I would... More

I was taken hear by my wife on my birthday. We enjoyed a Chefs seasonal tasting menu plus matching wines, and the classic Kitchin tasting menu with wines. I could not fault anything with the food (loved the razor clams), wine, and staff, all were just excellent. The restaurant was well laid out with plenty of space between tables, I... More

A 'very special occasion' restaurant, we booked for my wife's 50th birthday - it was a nice touch to have a birthday card on the table from Mr K himself. Tucked away in a short run of restaurants in old quayside warehouses facing the Scottish Government offices in Leith, it doesn't make a huge fuss of its location, so you... More

As we were planning the trip to Edinburgh this was on of our must do's. In the taxi on the way across Edinburgh the driver was pointing the various tourist spots, buildings, statues & alike. As we enter the area where the restaurant is located he made some comment along the lines of you would have come here 20 years... More

I couldn't fault the food, simply delicious. We had the taster menu and I ate a number of things I would have not have chosen normally. Really enjoyed them all. Really good experience ..... but it doesn't mean I'll be eating them regularly in the future though ! The experience was however 'downgraded' on service. Some of the service was... More

Have eaten here 3 times and this one stood out. The service was faultless and the food really tasty. I had scallops which we're cooked just perfect then venison again really good up there with my top dinners in Edinburgh. Finished with the cheese an amazing selection to choose from.

My second visit here, but my o/h's first. It was a surprise for his birthday. Traffic being quite busy with Christmas etc, I called ahead to say we would be running late, this was no problem and withing minutes we were there. Welcomed at reception, our coats were taken and we were shown to our seats. We were given time... More
