Lovely lunch.

Dined as a large group of girls, enjoyed some champagne and a tasty lunch. Very reasonably priced lunch menu, with plenty of choice. I went for the polenta - which was very nice. Others had mussels and crab linguini, which also looked good. Good wine list too, with some nice choices. Nice waiting... read more

This was my third or fourth visit over a period of several years, and we weren't disappointed. A busy Saturday night can mean long waits in a restaurant, but the staff here were on top of their game, with coats taken promptly, us seated straight away, drinks arriving quickly - you get the picture. You're not rushed, but you're not... More

Good service, good food - what more can you ask for? My friend and I got one appetizer (olives), one entree each (I had the duck, she had the steak), and deserts (sorbet with Russian vodka) and I can't recommend each enough. The view we had at dinner wasn't bad either. All in all, a very solid meal

Great atmosphere to catch up with friends. The location is in a perfect spot and easy to get to. The environment is clean and modern. Service was good. Having ordered the steak, the meal was amazing. Keep in mind you are paying for what you get, so some meals can be pricey. The views are amazing of Edinburgh and the... More

Visited on a busy bank-holiday Monday evening. The restaurant was very busy but we enjoyed the atmosphere. Although we were in no rush it was a while before someone came to take our order, we then discovered they had run out of a few things and we had to start all over again! That said, the staff were friendly and... More

My husband and I visited for an evening meal. We loved the decor, vibe and buzz of the restaurant. It is suitably laid back to suit anyone who appreciates great food, good service without the fuss. We loved that we were surrounded by families, business people and couples and friends on a night out. The lighting, the view and our... More

We visited The Outsider with family on a recent trip to Edinburgh as it was somewhere recommended as a 'cool place to go'. That certainly seems to be the case as the place was full (it was Saturday night) and there was a great atmosphere. As they work on sittings we had the hang around in the doorway a while... More

Service was ok, but the waitress was completely overworked and we had to wait a long time between courses. A lot of people on tables near us were very frustrated too, with at least one sending their food back. Disappointing table, despite having booked 3 weeks in advance and requested a view. Some of the food was really tasty, but... More

Was impressed at how well the team and whole business operated under pressures of customer level. They predicted the holidays better than any other surrounding resturant and conducted perfect operations as a team whist retaining food quality.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
