Pizzas were lovely but service was far too slow... Kids were beyond hungry by the time we got our food. Also very expensive for what we actually ate. Not impressed by staff attitude either.

We popped in for A Pizza and bottle of wine on Saturday. We had attended a very good matinee play at the Lyceum and wanted a quick bite before the seven Pm train home. we arrived at Pizza Express just at 5.05pm and ordered our pizzas and a bottle of wine, Exactly one hour later I asked the waiter why... Our waiter was a really nice person, however the service was very slow. So much so that after 1 hour 45, there was no time for the birthday cake my son had chosen so carefully beforehand, If you are arranging a children's party here, I suggest you don't take a cake and assume 2 hours. The other downside when the... More

Ate here on a busy Friday evening. Very central location taking full advantage of tourist trade. We waited to be seated & requested a cleared & empty table in a good spot. We were told it was reserved & taken to an area in the back of the restaurant where every table was occupied by families with young children -... More

four of us met here for a farewell dinner in Edinburgh it was the same commendable food you got at all there establishments. I personally thought the size was a little smaller than usual but maybe its my eyes. I had a hot pepperoni which was tasty and we all enjoyed the meal. A good evening

Say what you will about Pizza Express - for the majority of us who simply want delicious and dependable dining without the posh pretence - Pizza Express delivers. We decided on a late lunch and prefer a quiet restaurant anyway, the staff were friendly and attentive and the service was ultra speedy. Food was bursting with flavour.

I was immediately shown to a table. I ordered my food and asked for a herb to be removed. My food came out perfect, just the way I like it. My mains was not served straight after my starters, which is what I like as I don't like to be rushed. The staff are welcoming, always smiling and are very... More

Pizza express have the best gluten free pizza I have tasted! I have visited many, this is first time been to this one in Edinburgh. Easy to find and in city centre. Friendly staff and nice friendly atmosphere in restaurant. I have a tastecard so can get 50% off food bill which always encourages me to pick pizza express!

Booked table and had a great night. Two of the party were gluten free and staff were very good at offering assistance. A great start to the festivities

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
