Superb Food

The food in here is excellent. Flavoursome, and if you want it spicy it comes that way instead of being dumbed down. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Great restaurant. A little off the beaten track, but worth the walk from Princess Street.

I was recommended this restaurant and it exceeded all expectations. Starters were delicious and beautifully presented. Main courses were very flavorsome and I would highly recommend the lamb shank massaman curry. Slightly more expensive than other Thai restaurants in Edinburgh however this was reflected in the quality of the food. They did not have any sea bass or monk fish... More

As usual food excellent we have been many times the only fault we had was the manager think it might have been his first night! We were kept waiting 15 minutes for our table and unfortunately there is no seats at bar to wait! My partner asked for sweet sherry told they had none was given dry sherry when I... More

I came here for a catchup with my aunt on a Friday evening, having never been before. We were not disappointed! Having decided to go to a Thai restaurant, we initially tried calling another one nearby however the connection was poor and the call disconnected. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise and we went for our second... More

Fresh, delicious food, options to choose spiciness 1-5, I went for 3.5 which was spicy but perfect. Lovely surroundings, excellent menu, fabulous service. Definitely go back- yet again!!! My favourite Thai restaurant to date :D

I liked was the food, but wasn’t a huge fan of the service. For main I selected a dish from the stir-fry section and chose beef. The taste was hot and fresh and I absolutely loved it. Someone else chose a curry, and the great thing is that you can choose your spice level from 1-5 so the same dish... More

The initial impression is good, the meet and greet was up to standard, the restaurant has a nice feel to it, although the tables are perhaps a little too close together. The food, the service ?...very good, and reasonably priced. If you like Thai food I can recommend this restaurant.

This is our second visit to Passorn in the past six months - we will definitely return more often. Both visits, we were welcomed with warm smiles the minute we walked in the door. Our coats were taken and we were led to our table, with drinks brought right away. The food is authentic, flavoured with imported ingredients, beautifully presented,... More

The best Thai food in Edinburgh, of that I am sure. We had mixed experience of service as the waiter has to look at the dish numbers to take the order and came back three times with questions. He would have benefited from some supervision from his colleagues who were not busy.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
