My husband and I went here on our first night in Edinburgh in July and had excellent oysters, smoked salmon, and wine. It was so good that we came back two days later for lunch. The atmosphere was romantic but in a simple, understated way. Their prices are reasonable for either meal but the lunch deal at the time was... more

I've been to the Grain Store several times for both business and personal entertaining. In general it is great atmosphere and good food. For visitors to Edinburgh it also has a gothic, ghostly feel. This, combined with the local sourcing, a good wine list and pretty good cooking is undoubtedly a great strategy aiming at delivering a pretty unique and... more

The Grain Store offered us a wedding lunch comprising of not only great flavours and combinations of tastes but also a warm ambiance and friendly service. From zero to seventy years of age we all felt comforable and welcome. Whether for salmon, goat's cheese or homemade shortbread, this Scottish restauarant is well worth a visit more

Anniversary meal was fantastic. I am a typical meat lover and wanted to taste the best Scotland has to offer. I had the venison which was superbly cooked and elegantly presented. My girlfriend had the angus fillet which I stole some of and that was also stunning. The service was also very friendly, efficient and in tune with the pleasant... more

This restaurant is worth every penny and more, the wife and I was celebrating our honeymoon with a short break in Edinburgh for a weekend. We both wanted to push the boat out a little bit and treat ourselves to a nice meal, we had two choices the witchery or the grain store. We decided to go with the grain... more

This is may first review, EVER, but I felt compelled to compliment The Grain Store and staff. We were led to the Grain Store by Gemma-Rose at The Scotsman Hotel. She counseled that, if we were lucky enough to get a table, it would be one of the best meals Edinburgh has to offer. She was right. Last minute, we... more

After reading a recent review about the Grain Store,I felt compelled to set the record straight!Yes,we all have our own opinions, and the freedom to express these opinions...but the information on the previous review is completely misleading! The Grain Store is set in a beautiful 250 year old building...not a picnic bench in sight(as was suggested!).The dining tables are indeed wooden,and... more
