Date night Friday

On a whim decided to treat ourselves and what a great decision, Oysters followed by perfectly cooked steaks and too full for dessert, the food was perfectly presented and prepared, service was good if a little over faux friendly but thats not a huge issue, looking forward to a return visit.

After reading great reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to visit the Samphire Seafood Bar and Grill. The location is amazing with excellent views of the Forth Road bridges, and the cute harbour at South Queensferry. The staff were first class, and very friendly...but service was skow! Our starters were OK (ish), and my crab cakes were a little dry...but Im... More

My boyfriend and I went here as a late birthday meal for him. It all started well - I had called ahead to have prosecco on the table on arrival and verything was ready for us. We had a great table by the window overlooking the stunning view which was lovely! Unfortunately, the food was just not of the standard... More

The food was superb! Haven't tastes something that good for a while! I had Pan seared scallops with pistachio crumb, and my friend had the seabass - both meals were exceptionally good. You have a great view of the bridge as well. The service was good although the food took so long to come, but it was worth the wait!

Just 15 minutes by train from Edinburgh Waverly, then a short walk/taxi journey to this lovely place. Situated at South queensferry in between the fourth road bridges with unrestricted views over the Firth of Fourth. The food is amazing and the staff were fantastic. We went in a busy night when there was also a wedding on at this venue... More

We had booked a table specially chosen for the views. The food was well presented and tasted fabulous...The waitress attached to our table was attentive and polite. The ambiance was lovely, the food great and the setting perfect. The bill for 6 with drinks £35 per person. It turned it into a memorable evening.Thanks...We will definitely be back..

The setting of the restaurant in South Queensferry,Scotland...between the two iconic Forth Bridges and looking onto the Forth estuary..is magnificent and always makes this Scot very proud indeed. It was a fairly quiet Tuesday..we had booked,so got a window with a view table..there is also an outside terrace. Four of us all adults...the service was pleasant and in time with... More

Booked Samphire Restaurant and a room to celebrate anniversary. Arrived mid - afternoon and allocated a room to the front of the building. Great size room which is well presented and excellent bathroom. Only issue with a front facing room is there may be a bit of street noise late a night and early in the morning especially if a... An excellent restaurant, with friendly, proficient and professional staff. Location - wise, it is hard to imagine a better view from a restaurant table.

We dropped by for a late lunch at around 4pm and were given a bay window seat with a fantastic view! My friend had a 3-course set lunch which was pretty filling. I had the salt pepper squid and a pot mussels. The seafood was really fresh and wine selection was great.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
