Description: Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

I enjoyed a fantastic lunch in First Coast this week. The black pudding starter with apple chutney was extremely well presented and tasted wonderful. I opted for the Thai chicken salad which was to die for! The flavour and quantity was just right. The service was prompt and relaxed and it was fairly quiet at lunchtime which made it very... More

We've been dining at First Coast for about 3 years now when we visit Edinburgh and it never disappoints . The staff are always welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There's always something new to try and the staff will guide you if you're not sure about any ingredients. Can honestly say I've enjoyed all dinners we've had here... More

Made a last minute booking here on a Saturday night. Staff were fantastic, very attentive and didn't have to ask for anything! Ox cheek starter blew me away, couldn't fault anything at all (and I'm hard to please).

The second time I have eaten here and I really can't fault it. A simple yet excellently executed menu. The staff are attentive. The service amazing. Once a month they do a themed quisine night. This should be higher up the list of places to eat in edinburgh than it is!

I had dinner here with friends on a busy Saturday night. Service was attentive and informal. With every table taken I thought service might be slow however that was not the case and our order was taken fairly quickly and the food followed reasonably quickly bit never rushed. I had the squid to start and it was cooked to perfection... More

Another great place to eat in Edinburgh. Not far from Haymarket train station. The selection on the menu was to much for us as it all looked so good. With the help from the waiting staff we plumped for their recommendation and we were not disappointed. Atmosphere was buzzing and would highly recommend it. Another great point is that they... More

A friend who lives locally recommended this place to eat - I doubt we would have found it ourselves. The staff are fantastic and food was some of the best we have eaten anywhere. A nice touch was to ask if we had any questions about the menu - and they were happy to explain some of the terminology

I was rather nervous having to choose an eating place randomly from the internet , however , "First Coast"" should be in the good food guide , our lunch was definately outstanding , all four of us had a different dish and our 90yr old aunt had the most flavoursome burger ever !!! I will be recommending this restaurant to... More

Had a wonderful meal here August -2013 . Found the place by chance. Original menu. Great cook. Enjoyed the haggis! As well as the traditional puddings cooked to perfection. Would return! Best in area!!

The area around Haymarket station doesn't look that welcoming, but this restaurant is a gem. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (while not being imposing at all), and they provided great service. Upon entering the restaurant they offered to hang up my raincoat to let it dry, all of my questions and requests were answered or taken care of... More
