Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

Stumbled across First Coast by accident on the web whilst looking for somewhere at that end of Edinburgh for a post-match meal after the rugby. Excellent food and friendly service. I was concerned that they were going to try and rush us out as the restaurant was fully booked and customers were being turned away, but the pace relented a... More

I was recommended First Coast by a member of staff at a cafe in town and it did not disappoint. The food was exceptional, the wine was delicious, and the service was friendly and polite. No complaints at all. Keep up the good work.

Lively atmosphere in a full restaurant where booking is essential. Table ready on time, fabulous service and the food is top notch. I had the oxtail oxtail gnocchi with onion puree and gremolata crumbs which is scrumptious. My wife had the seared salmon, roast shallot with a great chilli dressing both excellent starters and at £6 each great value for... More

Went to this restaurant after chosing it hurriedly whilst in need of a meal. We weren't disspapointed - the food was excellent. Service was easygoing and efficient with waitresses checking that everything was okay. The Haddock was first class as was the pudding. We did find parking close by a bit of a challenge but finally decided on the Co-op... More

Excellent dinner when we randomly chose this place. Oxtail gnocchi deeply flavoursome followed by the best venison I have ever had. So good I even had pudding 😀

The service was so nice and the vegetarian starter was delicious. I ordered fish (calamary and I don't remember the other one) as second course and it was nice too. Good italian wine!! I'd come back there definitely!

This is a well-established neighbourhood restaurant which I have been visiting for ten years (I live around the corner). The menu is thoughtfully chosen and the service relaxed.

Travelling alone this time so really wanted something unfussy and reasonably quick. There are a number of restaurants around here and initially asked for a table at locanda de gusti. They didn't have a table so reluctantly I walked across the road, I wasn't disappointed at the end. I started with the oxtail gnocchi and it was great, lovely texture,... More

First up, the hostesses were professional, helpful and accommodating. I had booked us a table for 6, but we arrived with an extra little person (a baby of whom they were very accommodating, happy to provide high chair and warm up baby food! Changing facilities clean and comfy too). Then two more guests joined us at different stages, as the... More
