Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

We had dinner here for the second time on Saturday and it was all very tasty and the service was friendly and attentive. However, my husband and son had ordered steaks which were about £23 each and came with a pepper sauce. However when they arrived, although delicious, there was very little pepper sauce on the plate and both my... More

10 minutes walk from Kew House. Recommended and a table was pre booked for us as popular. Can cater for dietary requirements particularly Coeliac. Although a bit expensive, the food is excellent.

Visited many times and remains a favourite. We had a delicious meal last night. Great starters , lovely soup, loved the vegetarian option starter and our son enjoyed the crab & pork. We all enjoyed super steaks as our main served with lovely crisp chips beautifully cooked and the sweets were perfect too. Nice friendly service.

Had the pleasure of eating at First Coast with an old mate of mine on a busy Tuesday night. Great vibe as we walked though the door and despite it being impressively busy we were attended to almost immediately and given a good table, some menus and info on the specials. Really impressed by the menu and the owner/Chef clearly... More

We went for an early bird menu on a Monday. The location might not be city centre but rest assured this restaurant could go toe to toe with most of them. We had smoked fish fritters, chicken salad and both were excellent. The service was first class - attentive but relaxed and altogether a great way to spend aMonday evening.

Just arriving in Edinburgh we used the TripAdvisor app to guide us to this place. When we arrived it was packed but the lady suggested coming back in 15 minutes and they might have a table for two. We did and they managed to fit us in. How pleased we were we came here. The staff were really nice. Half... More

We stopped in to First Coast on a Saturday around 6:30-7pm and did not have a reservation. We had just arrived in Scotland that morning from the US and I had completely forgot to book a reservation ahead of time even though I knew this was the first place we wanted to have dinner (thank you TripAdvisor reviews). We were... More
