Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

Fab restaurant!

Great Service. Good wine. Good beer. Great value and amazing food. We recommend the lamb and the feta fritters as a starter and the cod and the venison as a main.

We went out with some other friends here over Easter weekend. As others in the group were having starters and I'm gluten free I asked what was suitable, nothing really took my fancy but they adapted an item for me. Ordered the version for a main but the waitress came back and apologised as it had a sauce with gluten... More

Went here for lunch as the Italian across the road, No.1 for restaurants in Edinburgh, was closed. There was a short menu for lunch, expanded a bit by the á la carte menu. We chose mussels and lamb for starters, venison burger and creamy mash for main course and hazelnut and chocolate eton mess and peanut and salted caramel tart... More

First coast is a great restaurant with excellent service and excellent food. You can tell a lot of effort goes into what is on the menu and the food tastes amazing. I would thoroughly recommend and I will be coming back!

Lovely little place with a warm welcome from staff. Something a bit different on the menu and food was very tasty. They put in extra effort here and well worth a visit if in the area. A short walk from Haymarket, so easy to get to.

Visited for friends birthday - first time for them Great dinner - food really good - only downside for me was limited vegetarian choice. Have recommended to other friends who have all enjoyed their meals. Friendly staff, who make you very welcome - even when you arrive 30 minutes before your reservation!!

Came ones for dinner and everything was perfect lovely menu, lovely food and lovely service. However when I came back for lunch it was very disappointing. The burger I ordered was very small and the food was cold. Nobody came back and check on us and we had to walk to the bar to pay because nobody came to the... More

At the last minute, on the recommendation by a friend, we visited this wonderful place. The service was very prompt and friendly. The menu was varied and inventive. Our starters, mains and puddings were all excellent. We will definitely go back and will recommend to friends/family. It is also just a short walk from Haymarket station so its location is... More

Visited on a miserable Tuesday in February at lunch time. Service and food were tremendous. Great dishes, cooked to perfection. The style and presentation would grace the finest tables. Indeed we remarked that had we been planning a celebration meal for a number of guests 'First Coast' would be a consideration. The day we visited was cold outside, and, as... More
