Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

Fantastic dinner

It was through the whole experience a wonderful dinner. We started with a Home made tasty Prork Rillette, followed by a Thai salad made to perfection as well as a Hagies which wasnot on the menu that evening but that was offered to my request by the manager. Great staff and experience overall,

We were recommended this restaurant and was dissapointed in the small menu selection. The staff were great and the place was modern & clean but just didn't hit the mark for us. The meals we had were nice but, as one of us requires gluten free meals, the small menu did not provide a lot of choices.

Great food and nice staff, its a cozy environment and the food was really good! Try the lamb as starter and ox cheek as a main.

Yes, the menu is small and I was having a hard time choosing because nothing was jumping out at me, but I made a decision and went with the "feta, wild garlic and currant fritter" as a starter and the "ox cheek" as my dinner. Both were amazing!!! My finances dishes were delicious as well. I didn't think the prices... More

We received a friendly welcome and prompt service despite the place being quite busy. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and a good variety of dishes. Excellent quality food and good value for money. Highly recommended!

Warm welcome, excellent service and great wine list. But the food speaks for itself - truly some of the best food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I had soup of the day (spring veg with pesto) which was very tasty. My boyfriend had mussles which he said were some of the best he'd ever had. For my main I... More

I chose this restaurant because of the great reviews on Trip advisor but I was a little disappointed with the limited choice of food on the menu, I ended up having steak as there was nothing else I fancied. The restaurant it's self is modern and clean, the waitress was first class and the food was fine. I feel that... More

This is a small place, with a small menu but it is BIG on flavour. The quality of the food is not reflected in the price though as I did not think that this place was particularly expensive - I guess that's the benefits of staying away from the George St/Rose St/Princes St area where similar food would set you... Went here with my wife and parents on a Monday night in April having found First coast on Google and TripAdvisor. The food is excellent with a well thought out and slightly unusual menu. Everything we had was delicious and well presented. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive, and the restaurant had a welcoming and modern feel to it.... More

Been a few times now and can safely say that it's one my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. Food is always top rate and service is very professional yet personable.
