We went to Mamma's restaurant today after visiting the castle, largely on the basis of seeing that it looked after coeliacs well. On arrival we discovered that we're only a few items you couldn't have - quite the reverse of usual! The service was very friendly and the kids loved it. Would recommend to all.

We arrived 8pm on Sunday night. We were seated straight away. My partner ordered garlic bread with mozzarella. It was an uncooked baguette type thing cold in the middle with cheddar sprinklings and the cheese was in one lump and had grease and dirt from the fryer. I ordered the sweet chilli fries, but they had a hair in them.... More

Was at Mammas yesterday for dinner with 9 other friends while in Edinburgh enjoying the Fringe Festival. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant was extremely busy inside and outdoors. We sat outside enjoying the grass market area however the tables are crammed close together and the seats are not the best. We ordered some starters to... More

Great service with lots of gluten-free options rather than a token bland item on the menu. My partner had an excellent gluten - free pizza and she enjoyed gluten - free chocolate brownie and ice cream after. I had gluten - free chilli with nachos. All excellent and good value for the location in the middle of The Fringe Festival.

Only 2 toilets vor all those diners and no spave to wait in line! Every time we went back someone else was in. We ended up going across to apex hotel after the bill had been settled

Visited with my two kids (19 & 6) on an unusually sunny day during the festival. We arrived just after noon and the outside seating was already filling up. We grabbed a seat directly outside, not much room between tables and on a big slope but was great to see and hear all the performers in Grassmarket. We opted to... More

Dined here on Tuesday 5/8/14 during the start of the Edinburgh fringe festival. We were seated and attended to by a lovely young lady who could not do enough for us. Food was served quickly and was piping hot and very tasty. We only waited a short time as everything is cooked fresh but it was worth waiting for.I will... More

Have been diagnosed coeliac for only 10 years so I can still remember what a proper pizza is suppose to taste like. Have tried the chain pizza restaurants who advertise gluten free pizzas but all they offer are the cheap nasty basses you can buy in any supermarket. The pizza I had at Mammas was amazing, even my daughter tried... More

Located right in the Grass Market. Knowledgeable about gluten free eating. Not the fastest service, but friendly staff and fun setting. .
