A good meal in the sunshine!

We had a really good meal during the Fringe in the sunshine. Pizza was very good - nice crispy base, and the chille lived well up to its name! Slow and disorganised service let Mamma's down a bit but didn't spoil the meal, just took an edge off it.

The pizza is very good, the restaurant has America signs all over the walls but does not feel like an American Pizza Pub. It has a warm cozy feel inside and seating outside as well. I felt the pizza was very reasonable in price. Plenty of beer choices and wine as well. The beer prices maybe a bit higher than... More

Was in the mood for pizza, very pleased with what we got! Just ordered a simple pepperoni pizza! Awesome crust, sauce, cheese and pepperoni! Had no complaints about the pizza. Did NOT like how ridiculously expensive the beer was. I understand you're in Edinburgh during the fringe but come on... £5.20 for a bottled local beer? Also, the tables outside... More

visited on a sunny afternoon & sat outside. service pleasant and prompt however pizzas mediocre at best, ordered the "create your own" and toppings very "sparse". the small pizza was like a kiddies supermarket offering, there are plenty much better pizza/Italian eateries in Edinburgh, I wouldn't go back here

Every time we visit Edinburgh we always pay a visit to Mamma's and share a couple of XL pizzas with a bottle of wine or one of their craft beers. We were not disappointed and lucky to only have to wait 5 minutes for a table on a busy Saturday night, as always the pizzas were good which along with... More

What I love about Mamma's is the wide choice of pizza toppings. It has been a favourite haunt for the last 15 years and I've probably got something different every time I've visited. They have a huge range of pizza toppings and it's fun to try something new and go for some wacky combos, i recommend going for a half... More

Great, friendly staff who dealt with our various allergies without batting an eyelid. Fantastic food delivered quickly and without fuss, despite the restaurant being busy. The gluten free pizza was by far the best I've tasted anywhere in the world. Worth coming to Edinburgh just for that.

Normally I love this restaurant and I've been quite a number of times. When I went this time though, I was hugely disappointed. When we took our order, the waiter wasn't very pleasant, then when I asked him if we could have straws, he threw them in our drinks when he brought them and made a face. We also noticed... More

I normally don't tend to go to Italian restaurants or pizzerias since I've discovered I have a wheat/gluten intolerance. Places I have been to that serve gluten free pizza might as well serve cardboard with topping! I heard good things about this place and since my nephew wanted pizza decided to go. Best decision of our day and best gluten... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
