Came here before when it was self-service in the evening but now they've switched to table service. The food was still good (veggie haggis is surprisingly nice) but the place is rather tired and grubby (especially the carpet!). £12 for a mains isn't that cheap - if they want to be a proper restaurant, they could at least invest some... Had the lasagne. For £6 it was a small piece and was not even properly heated through. Disappointing for a place with such a lofty reputation.

Recommended by tour bus guide. High quality, beautifully presented vegetarian/vegan food. Romantic atmosphere and friendly, helpful service. Although not vegetarian ourselves, delicious dishes. Roasted aubergine in plum and red wine sauce, with dauphinoise potatoes highly recommended.

Wow, as a meat eater this was going to be the first time I was actually venturing over to the veggie side! My friends raved about Henderson's and their cherry tart! After hinting at all the other lovely restaurants and tantalizing menus we walked past we eventually got to Henderson's. Down the stairs into this lovely little space decorated with... More

We really looked forward to trying out Hendersons on our recent trip to Edinburgh, (19th September) as we love the variety of flavours in vegetarian food and usually expect a nice leisurely lunch, value for money, good sized meals- unfortunately we were disappointed on all counts. First of all management, take notice-if your customers are having to ask staff to... More

Went here last Saturday as a party of four - myself, my partner, our 2-year-old son and my mum. As vegetarians we are used to only having a few choices on a menu so it's great to go somewhere like this and have a larger selection to choose from! The food was lovely and very fresh, especially the salads, and... More

This was a wonderful find. It was recommended and didn't disappoint. We went for lunch - and I tried the Vegi haggis and clapshot. Very nice!!. The range of food is amazing. Lovely atmosphere and staff.

We just had a main course and desert in Henderson and enjoyed the vegetarian experience. The food is tasty and plentiful at a reasonable price. I am not a vegetarian but am open to all food experiences and this was good. The desert of fruit crumble was particularly good.

I tend to seek out the vegetarian restaurants whenever I travel as I want to avoid meat (unless it's organic or free range) and I can't eat gluten. The only issue is I can't eat onion either and many vegetarian restaurants usually pile their dishes full of onion. At Henderson's Bistro this didn't seem to be a problem at all.... More

In looking for a nearby vegetarian restaurant (which happened to be closed) we stumbled upon Henderson's. So glad we did!! A cosy, informal atmosphere which was exactly what we wanted at the end of a long day exploring Edinburgh. Although the menu posted daily on the wall was short, it offered a mix of delicious choices. From the entre, to... More
