I've been visiting as a child with my family reading the Pink News for those old enough to remember that and as an adult for the occasional visit 4/5 times a year. Came here for lunch and we ordered the the regular and cajun salsa burger. They were alright but I have to say McDonald's is definitely tastier (and cheaper too!) Portions were generous though. Looking at other reviews, maybe the restaurant was having an 'off day' but I must say I was slightly disappointed with the overall taste.

Since we were off to see Barbara Dickson at The Queens Hall a pre-concert meal at The Buffalo Grill was a must. It's take your own wine so we didn't forget to pick up a nicely chilled bottle of Chardonnay to accompany an excellent meal. We always try to eat here when in Edinburgh. It's been going for years and... More

I've been going here for over ten years now. It's consistently good food at good prices, and the staff are always great. I recommend it to anyone and everyone (except perhaps vegetarians and vegans).

We took my 14 year old daughter and 16 year old son for dinner on Sat night. Overall I would say its good - we had a nice night out. Good stuff is - the food which was good but not outstanding, but good decent portions of tasty dishes. The T bone was very good, and large. Its busy and... More

I recently visited the Buffalo Grill, we were walking by and made an impulse decision to go for dinner. I had heard from a few friends that it is a good restaurant and they recommended to me to visit. We were there around 6pm however the restaurant was quiet, so we were able to choose where to sit and the... More

Table of eight and all orders delivered at the same time on a busy Friday night service well done chef and thank you. BYOB AND ONLY £1 FOR CORKAGE. Will no doubt be back for another night out to... Was here for a meal with 2 others one who is quite fussy about certain foods. I had steak cooked to perfection as was the whole plate both steaks were great really. One had a chicken dish and I thought it would be half eaten but no chance was totally finished as the taste was great. The staff were great... More

Well we did walk in off the street and we did get a table. In the window. No back support. Hard to say why but whilst the t bone was good. Nor great. The Boston cut was well awful. It was pink, looked great but the best word was sponge. I eat half and was surprised that the staff on... More

Booked 4 a family party of 6 as was looking for some place casual and the fact its byob (only £1 corkage for wine n 50p per bottle of beer-so when I booked the person I spoke to recommended 'big beer bottles' to minimise corkage, thanks 4 the tip!) meant could keep costs down. Service was prompt and attentive and... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
