This is a an intimate little restaurant. Not small, but with a cosy feel. Clean and fresh. The service is friendly, warm and attentive. The food is delicious, nicely cooked and presented. Not pretentious, decent portions, and tasty. Our steaks, and we all 7 had steaks, were excellent, every one. The vegetables, chips and salads were all tasty, fresh and... More

The title says it all. You also take your own wine for £1 corkage which just adds to the fun and the cost effectiveness of a great evening out. Not only is the food good but you wont leave hungry - the helpings are not mean. The staff are all very friendly and just keep on smiling so make you... More

Booking is recommended luckily for us they squeezed us in as long as the table was free by 8 this was at 6.50 one three course meal later beautifully served freshly made we left stuffed at 7.50. We did not feel rushed in anyway and from what we saw this small little restaurant served everybody in record times. The two... More

My favourite restaurant in Edinburgh, whenever my family don't know where to go this is our fallback, great food my standard order being the tortilla mexicana and my family loving the steaks, it's a small place like but that just means it's not too noisy and retains fast service, good for any age

Came here last wed at lunch time for my brother's birthday and I chose here as he loves steak. The steak choices were limited for lunch though. As my husband and I have not visited this restaurant for years, we were relieved that it's still pretty good.

Ate there recently and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the sea bass I ordered - no skimping! My friend had salmon and husband had steak - we enjoyed our meal. Afterwards my friend asked for biscuits and cheese and told it's not on menu - he persisted and we were brought a plate with 3 large wedges of... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
