Food was okay, the crepe wasn't very authentic compared to the one I tried in France. Moreover the fork wasn't clean, it was a bit disgusting to see there was something stuck in between. The service was very slow, even though the place was not busy at all, staff tended to ignore customers and not very keen to speed up... More

Stopped here for a quick snack on the way to a festival show. I had a waffle which was really tasty and my 3 companions had various crepes which they really liked. Good coffee. There was also a good choice of cakes. The service was friendly if a little slow and there wasn't a crowd. Overall good quality at a... More

We were on our way to a concert at the Queens Hall and needed something to eat beforehand. Being a Saturday during the festival most places were busy, but we noticed this placed looked quiet. Too quiet! So we checked the reviews on Tripadvisor to make sure it would be okay and decided to give it a go. Overall we... More

At the height of the festival,it's difficult to find somewhere to relax and get decent, friendly service.Cafe Gourmand provided a welcome break from the norm.Offering a great array of French standards,Croque Monsieur,Madame etc as well as a host of fresh gallettes.I chose the Gallette Ecossais.Smoked Salmon,a lovely cream cheese.I added spinach to this for a couple of extra pennies.Accompanied by fresh... I took a client here for lunch but in the end didn't order lunch. The waitress ignored us, had to get up to tell her we'd been waiting over ten minutes to be served, she then eventually came to us 5 minutes later. By this time we'd decided to just order drinks. It took 25 minutes from the time we... More

Wonderful latte and ham and cheese croissant - very well filled with excellent quality meat and tasty Gruyere. Others in the party chose crepes, which looked delicious and, I'm told, were. Banana milkshake could have done with more banana but overall excellent value

The stander in this place really surprised me, I thought this cafe would be good as it is in a competitive area close to the campus, especially there are so many cafes along Nicolson street, I expect the standard would be similar to others, however it isn't. My friend and I came in with the expectation of the name of... More

I have been here many times with my friends since I started studying in Edinburgh, this place has always been a comfort zone for me, and the food and drinks were so comforting too. But lately my friends and I feel that the standard of the food here is rapidly going down. We ordered a few crepes and eggs this... More

After reading the comments here, so I went to this shop to try last week. I ordered the crepe, it wasn't nice. The crepe itself tastes like a very chewy pastry. And the filling is a bit too salted for me. Don't know if my crepe is overlooked or isn't fresh enough. Anyways it's not the best I've tried. Moreover... More

Great hot chocolate, really nice chai latte, my friends say the coffee is good too, and yummy pancakes sweet and savoury! Nice cozy atmosphere and friendly staff too. Open from 9am-7pm on most days.
