Great stop off in Edinburgh

There's a great selection of craft beer on tap and an even greater selection of whiskey. Great stop off if you're around the castle.

Seriously, my boyfriend and I who are newbie/enthusiasts for whiskey planned on going on a whiskey tour the following day but after experiencing this whiskey tasting with the expert bartender here, we just ended up skipping the tour. The bartender was passionate, helpful and funny. He first went through the brief history of whiskey, different types, and was spot on... More

The selection of beer is amazing and the staff are even better! They can't do enough to help you and spend the time telling you about the beers, what to try, based on your beers preferences. They know their stuff and make you feel really welcome and actually care about you and what you're drinking!! This is by far the... More

Wow, so myself and my close friend traveled here as a part of a pub crawl we planned in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. What a great choice. The pub is very small and cosy whilst offering some good pub grub as well as a friendly and warming atmosphere. The choice of Whiskey and beers available is phenomenal. Personally I... More

This is unashamedly a pub that sells beer. Great atmosphere and choice of drinks. The bar staff were knowledgeable and friendly despite it being really busy. Loved it.

Lovely bar with an excellent range of whiskies. Bar staff very welcoming and knowledgeable, especially Bailey who took the time to recommend good alternative malts to try.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
