About the freshest sushi and fish we have eaten anywhere. Well prepared. Loved the miso soup and even the rice was not sticky. Had a really cold beer.

This is possibly the best sushi I have ever tried. Fresh and tasty and yes like someone previously mentioned pricey but worth it, all Sushi places are the same though as the bill soon mounts up. We has about 8 dishes between us (hubby and I) varying from fish to chicken and every one of them was amazing. What would... More

I love sushi and I love it even more after getting takeaway from Kanpai. The sushi is quite exceptional. They don't skimp on portion size either. Nom nom nom. That is all.

This is a very nice restaurant that serves probably the best sushi & sashimi you can find (at least in Edinburgh). The food is so good it's addictive. They have a good range of rolls to choose from as well as a wide range of sashimi and also has taster options for 2 or 4 people. I have been here... More

We had a lovely dinner here recently for our anniversary. The restaurant is right in the city centre, close to several theatres, and is very modern and welcoming. The menu contains a great selection of Japanese dishes , and we chose a total of seven, including sushi, sashimi and tempura, which made for a very good dinner. We'll definitely be... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
