One visit will never be enough. This little place specialises in boutique chocolate and sources its own chocolate beans and oversees all aspects of production. Their passion is amazing and there is something from everyone, including hot chocolates and ice-cream. It can get busy, but its so good its not surprising. Although the place was too packed to have my hot chocolate there, I did have one to go, which, to be fair, was one of the best hot chocolates (I went for the dark chocolate variety) I have ever had. I also bought some hot-chocolate mixes for friends, and so far they've loved them. The place is also very cozy,... More

We have the pleasure of visiting Edinburgh twice a year and one of our delights whilst there is to spend some time enjoying the excellent chocolate products which The Chocolate Tree so justly specialises in. However this year we were a fraction disappointed in the fact that the seating has not improved rather been reduced and that it is now... More

The chocolate is small place, makes you feel close to other people. It’s filled with a wonderful warm fragrance of chocolate and the staff is one of the nicest people you can find. Above all, the hot chocolate is sublime. You can get a big serving of hot chocolate in a blue painted ceramic cup and it is one of... More

Excellent variety on the hot chocolate menu - lots of flavours and types, which are all delicious. Also coffee, teapot tea, chocolates, cakes/desserts, french macarons, scoop ice cream etc. Small but cosy seating, great if you can get the window seat or the cosy corner seating through the back.

The Chocolate Tree has the best and fairtrade hot chocolate you have ever tried, even for the lactose intolerant (soya available). You can try the classic, but they also have the greatest variety of cocoa beans. Also a great place for tea lovers. They have a small shop with great edible gifts.

Some of the best hot chocolate around. A little on the expensive side - but well worth it! you can buy hot chocolate to take home - very yummy too.

A small place with a handful of chairs (the back room is cosy , but was occupied unfortunately). It has a wide array of pure, organic chocolates. Their melt in the mouth macaroons are to die for! The display of ice creams was mouth watering. Also available is a huge list of chocolates that are waiting to be gift wrapped... More

Before going any further, I should point out that this primarily an artisan chocolate shop, with only a handful of seats. However, if you are lucky enough to spot a free chair, especially in the delightful little room at the back, grab it and indulge yourself with a delicious hot chocolate or a gelato. we always find the staff cheerful,...
