The Gurkha Cafe offers great food and surroundings. The food was the best we have had for sometime in a Indian restaurant. Quality ingredients and well presented. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We would highly recommend a visit to the Gurkha Cafe.

We arrived around 8pm midweek. It wasn't too busy. Service was polite but our order was not taken properly. We then waited perhaps 45 mins. Food was nice but not the best (and not quite as ordered). Bill was wrong - as other tables had been too.

Really enjoyed the food. Fairly small place, good menu and excellent food. Fishfingers and chips on the children's menu was a bonus for the less adventurous youngsters!

This restaurant is quite unassuming from the outside. Near to Waverley and on the hill up to the Royal Mile, it could easily be overlooked. The food is amazing. We had poppadums with sauces, mixed starters (generous portions and very tasty) then I took a friend's advice and had the Tandoori King Prawn. Awesome. The flesh was cooked to perfection... More

Return visit coming from Dundee, and not disappointed, very busy on the Friday night we booked, (always a good sign) popadoms with pickle tray all delicious. King prawns starters, Mains chicken tikka, and tandoori sea bass again delicious with mushroom rice (to share) and parathas, with a bottle of Pinot Grigio at £15.95 a very good price, all served by very... The Gurkha is my favorite restaurant in Edinburgh. My husband and I are warmly welcomed each time we visit. Great care goes into the preparation of each dish. We always start with the poppadoms and dipping sauces. Being a vegetarian, I usually order the dal mahkani. You truly want to savor each bite, because the flavor is amazing.

This is a gorgeous resaturant. One of my favourite. I came here with my partner and we both thought it was excellent. Great choice of dishes and excellent value for money. The chilli garlic chicken starter with the natural yogurt is my favourite! It's such a lovely setting too. I work at the Apex International Hotel and always reccommend this... More

Nepalese food is the tasty hybrid of Indian and Chinese and Gurkha serves many fine samples of the cuisine. We started with poppadoms with three dipping sauces and the achari lamb chops (the latter is a must). We shared the chicken madras and the chilli garlic fish (can see the Chinese influence with the perfect blend of sweet, sour and... More

My wife and I visited on a Saturday night. We wanted to something different to the norm so we thought we'd give the Gurkha Cafe and Restaurant a try. It's close to the train station and the top end of the Royal Mile, but far enough away from the tourist traps. The food and service was lovely - with one... More
