Charming bistro

French bistro style in size and cuisine. I ate there twice when I was staying at the Salisbury Hotel. (Its conveniently situated in the same building). One night I had a soup and desert and another a main course, which was quite rich, (but delicious), complimented by a stringent white wine.

This is probably the 5 or 6th time I've been to Café Cassis, and my wife has more than this. On this occasion we were both there with our adult daughter for Sunday lunch. Fine food and we enjoyed ourselves. Why do we keep going back? Simply the food is very good and the service is friendly and efficient. You... More

Came here with a friend and had fairly high expectations from the comments below..... Cafe Cassis more than beat any expectations!!! Slightly hidden away in Newington in an unassuming spot under a hotel with plain decor, (and full of locals on a Wednesday evening) every plate was delectably presented and absolutely faultless. These are big words coming from the fussy... More

A gem of a restaurant with the most wonderful owners, Alison and French Chef Denis (Denee). Extremely attentive service, lovely food and a wide choice on the menu to suit most people. We went for a Hogmanay dinner which was perfect. Brilliant and tasteful seasonal decorations. I had the largest portion of venison I have been served and my wife... More

This is (imo) a French restaurant which actually has a French chef, who was out to check on us. The food was excellent, everything was fresh and very tasty. The menu choice was quite varied and there was a good selection on the Chefs specials. The staff were very friendly too and looked after us. The décor perhaps wasn't up... More

This is a little gem of a restaurant, the food is fabulous, the service from Audrey was so friendly and the atmosphere is cosy and warm - we will certainly be going back as Café Cassis is now our favourite Edinburgh restaurant!

We found this gem of a restaurant whilst looking on TripAdvisor - we're so grateful we did!! What a lovely little restaurant. An intimate, homely and friendly place - cafe cassis is certainly a must visit! A short taxi ride out of the centre, we were welcomed by the chef who took our coats and showed us to our seats.... I've visited this restaurant a few times now and it's very friendly with delicious food. I'm on a gluten free diet and I'm spoiled for choice, even for dessert! On our last visit we had amazing French onion soup (the best French onion soup ever according to my husband), followed by some succulent venison with pheasant in a lovely sauce.... More

I've lived in Edinburgh for many years, but somehow missed this one! Friends took me there and I wasn't disappointed. Food is excellent, but reasonably priced. A family run business, the chef/owner is from Nantes. A friendly place with a relaxed but efficient atmosphere. I had the cheek of beef which was sensational. The other items on the menu are...
