A hidden oasis is how this resident of edinburgh would describe this restaurant. Recommended by a friend we can truly say that we had a most enjoyable meal in relaxing surroundings with attentive staff. We would in turn recommend it to all.

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and the atmosphere was good. We had a nice table adjacent to a window and since this restaurant was situated in the basement of the Salisbury Hotel the natural light on a summer's evening was good. There is a very interesting menu along with some specials. There is a full wine list... More

I have eaten here on 3 occasions (Sunday Brunch and Pre-Theatre) and the food has been delicious every time. I have no complaints about any aspect of my visit and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food.

We came here for lunch with a very hungry 18 year old. He ate a couple of mains from the lunch set menu and was very happy. We all loved our meals and enjoyed talking with the French Chef who was very gregarious. This is a great restaurant. I recommend it highly.

Although we were eating at 5pm pre theatre we were not offered the pre-theatre menu and only found out about it when we were accidentally given it to choose a dessert, when it was then quickly whipped away. Then one of us got severe food poisoning... Won't be going there again..

Stayed at Masson House (20 min walk from the city center) but was rewarded because we were so close to Cafe Cassis! Outstanding mussels, pheasant and lamb were sublime, and a quite delicious dessert sampler. Attentive service and good pricing - get out of town a bit and enjoy!
