Description: We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery...
We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes. Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea. We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny. We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Great mid afternoon snack

Long trip up to Edinburgh feeling a bit stuffy and hungry. Called in as was near the hotel. Had a salad which was clean and fresh with good dressing. Perfect for what I wanted. Looked a busy place, atmosphere was good.

When we arrived there, I was concerned about the fact that all the baked goods, including the gluten free, were cooked in the same bakery. I am extremely sensitive to even the smallest particle of wheat flour. Right away, the owner came over and helped me to pick out the safest item on the menu, the vegan banana pancakes with... More

Enjoyed wonderful cappuccinos and scones with butter and jam. Every breakfast that came out of the kitchen looked fabulous. The wait staff was efficient and friendly!

Used to be a regular when i was a student and definitely loved this place. But it has changed a bit since than and everything's just okay. Although it just 2 minutes from where i live, i would prefer somewhere else.

We were staying at the Fountainbridge Apartments. After leaving this place we went across the street for breakfast at Loudons. It was our first breakfast in Scotland and they were as nice as these people are. We also tasted the amazing scones with butter and jam and felt in love with it.

We arrived just in time as the place is popular and available tables was at a premium. By the time we left there was a queue. This tells that the place is good. The breakfast is good and we had the eggs Benedict which went down very quick, as well as pancakes and a lovely cup of tea. Coffee was... More

My boyfriend and I went here the first day of our trip, loved it so much we came back the next day. Fantastic staff who went out of their way to accommodate our food quirks and intolerances. AMAZING! If I lived in Edinburgh I would be there every day.

We really enjoyed a good selection of breakfast options. The eggs were tasty and portions generous. Price point is great especially since it is in city centre and outdoor seating. But, and as always there is one, they appear to be a bit disjointed on service. Everyone is polite enough, but we were brought our breakfast literally in segments. They... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
