Description: We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes. Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea. We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny. We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

i was a regular in Loudons...best coffee in a Edinburgh...lovely staff...great scones. The change to table service has put me off...the staff constantly harass you so that you can't relax and read or chat. They whip away your plate or cup the minute you have finished...coffee takes ages to come. And finally, sort out your policy regarding buggies and nursery... More

Dear Anne P, thanks for your positive comments about our great staff, coffee and scones. This year we have been been working very hard to review the service that we provide and we have made a number of changes, one of which has been the move from counter service to table service. Fortunately for Loudons we have become busier and... More

Went in for coffee and a spot of lunch while I waited for a friend. The sign says wait to be seated, which I did, only I couldn't get anyone's attention so had to wait in the till queue (which take awayers and already seated people were queuing in) to be able to finally get a seat. I ended up... More

Dear Facepalm13, Thank you for taking the time to review us and I'm sorry that Loudons didn't live up to your expectations. Customers are normally met at the door by our staff so I am not too sure what went wrong to be honest. I would suggest coming back and trying again. We launched a new menu on the 1st... More

I am a regular visitor to Loudons and it never disappoints! The staff are friendly and efficient, and as I have been so often they recognise me and remember where I like to sit and try to sit me accordingly. The cafe can get a little noisy as the space is open and quite big. Parents often bring their young... More

Dear ItTastesLikeFeet, Thank you so much for your very positive review. It is always nice to be able to feed back positive comments to staff that customers have made. You may have noticed that we introduced a new menu on the 1st of December which adds to the Quiche, Pizza, Soup and Sandwiches that we have served for some time... More

This place is fine for a business coffee and cake. Service has deteriorated since moving to table service. I used to go for a quick takeaway sandwich but it's far too pricey for takeaway and the last three times the order has been wrong (after getting back to my desk). I won't be going back got a takeaway. Menu doesn't... More

Dear Phil k, Thank you very much for your review and comments about your takeaway order. Please accept my apology about your takeaway order being wrong. At our end this has highlighted a need to do a wee bit of staff training to ensure that the correct takeaway customer receives the corresponding takeaway order. If you have not visited us... More

On our way to city center on our first morning in Edinburgh, we spotted this on the corner of Fountainbridge and Garner's Cres. It looked like a nice, modern, clean café and it seemed busy, so we thought we'd pop in. We are glad we did. The food was delicious. From eggs, to delicious baked goods, the service was outstanding... More

Lovely soup and good service. Nice clean light and airy. Not sure if it might get a bit chilly - its a big tall space. I imagine it could get noisy when it's busy because of the hard floors. We arrived at 12 midday so it was still quite quiet and we had good service.

This is the closet cafe to our flat and a go to place at the weekend for brunch when we have been out running and can't be bothered walking too far or can't think of anywhere else to go. I normally have exactly the same thing eggs benedict, so I was surprised, on what was about my 20th visit, that... More

I work just around the corner and I pass this café every day. It's always busy and it's popular with all types, from business men in suits, to mums with prams, and students. The coffee is some of the best I've ever tasted, really smooth and creamy, without even a hint of bitterness. There is always a delicious-looking spread of... More

we were a mixed group of adults and kids - they could have done with a kiddy menu type thing - but the food and coffee was excellent and the place very light and airy
