Description: We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes. Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea. We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny. We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Went here twice whilst staying in Edinburgh. My sisters vegan and I'm gf/dairy free. They catered to our needs seamlessly. I wish I lived closer!

Despite walking some distance to get to this eatery, it was worthy of every step. The decor is appealing and there is a wide choice on the menu, and all were very tempting. I settled in the full English breakfast, chai tea and an orange juice. The bread was freshly baked on the premises and the Orange juice freshly pressed.... More

We popped in here on cold Saturday and were met with a great blast of heat and some fantastic smells. While the cafe is airy and bright it didn't feel cold. The menu choice was good too offering enough variation for me and the kids. The sound of the onion and fennel soup did whet the appetite but decided on... More

When I arrived, I was pretty hungry. By the time breakfast had arrived, I was prepared to eat the reading material that adorned their suddenly appetising wooden shelves. However, after a long wait, my full breakfast arrived and it was fairly generous, minus the black pudding mentioned on the menu. I elected to let this one go as hailing down... More

Popped in to Loudons and had a flat white and date slice, the table service seemed to work fine. Must go again soon as the eggs Benny is great too.

So far the best coffee I've found in Edinburgh (having tried all artisan cafes I could locate). Cakes are amazing too with gluten free and nut free options. Lots of loose leaf teas too. More couch seating and music would have helped make me stay and consume more, this resulted in the low score for atmosphere for me. Family friendly.... More

i was a regular in Loudons...best coffee in a Edinburgh...lovely staff...great scones. The change to table service has put me off...the staff constantly harass you so that you can't relax and read or chat. They whip away your plate or cup the minute you have finished...coffee takes ages to come. And finally, sort out your policy regarding buggies and nursery... More

Dear Anne P, thanks for your positive comments about our great staff, coffee and scones. This year we have been been working very hard to review the service that we provide and we have made a number of changes, one of which has been the move from counter service to table service. Fortunately for Loudons we have become busier and... More

Went in for coffee and a spot of lunch while I waited for a friend. The sign says wait to be seated, which I did, only I couldn't get anyone's attention so had to wait in the till queue (which take awayers and already seated people were queuing in) to be able to finally get a seat. I ended up... More

Dear Facepalm13, Thank you for taking the time to review us and I'm sorry that Loudons didn't live up to your expectations. Customers are normally met at the door by our staff so I am not too sure what went wrong to be honest. I would suggest coming back and trying again. We launched a new menu on the 1st... More

I am a regular visitor to Loudons and it never disappoints! The staff are friendly and efficient, and as I have been so often they recognise me and remember where I like to sit and try to sit me accordingly. The cafe can get a little noisy as the space is open and quite big. Parents often bring their young... More

Dear ItTastesLikeFeet, Thank you so much for your very positive review. It is always nice to be able to feed back positive comments to staff that customers have made. You may have noticed that we introduced a new menu on the 1st of December which adds to the Quiche, Pizza, Soup and Sandwiches that we have served for some time... More
