Description: We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery...
We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes. Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea. We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny. We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Not cheap but good

Good selection of food and good quality also. Staff very friendly but it is relatively expensive. Would not go on a daily basis but occasional visits OK.

Good range of gluten free food and the staff were very attentive.Really enjoyed my scone but it has to be said that the coffee is dire. There were five of us and we were all agreed that the coffee was bitter, weak and not at all pleasant. The flat white was the smallest I have ever had. Lots of business... More

We went to Loudons cafe one morning just before walking into the city centre, and ordered some drinks and cakes. The food and drinks itself was excellent, we ordered some coffees, scones, and cakes. The food and the drinks were great, although the service was not the best. We were given the scones and cakes almost immediately after ordering, yet... More

Went here with my girlfriend for breakfast yesterday, we were sat right beside the door due to the cafe being full. When we got our order taken, my girlfriend noted the waiter about her allergen problems. Despite the cafe highlighting there gluten-free cakes and bread, the waiter knew very little about what was gluten free and what wasn't and had... More

My only recommendation was it seemed a bit cold in decor, maybe could have a cosier area as around me was young ppl studying just having coffee,... More

Visited this cafe yesterday with a friend after wanting to go for a while. We were greeted at the door and sat at a table by the window. No attempt from the waitress to engage in conversation, ask us how we were etc. Service overall was average, nothing that would make me remember it or want to tip over the... More

We stayed a a hotel just down the road and were looking for an alternative to eating in. Loundons is a family owned business with a modern design feel. The food was great, service attentive and in all, enjoyable. Highly recommended based on our experience there.

Friendly modern cafe with every type of breakfast available . Our party of five tried pretty much the whole range and enjoyed it all. Only quibble was thehomemade beans were not a big hit. Not the cheapest meals but worth a visit . The automatic orange juicer is fun to watch. Handily there is a taxi rank right outside the... More

I've used this cafe off and on over 3 years during which time they have changed the service style and layout. You would think it was now optimised but surprisingly it isn't. Today there is a sign at the entrance telling you to wait to be seated by a member of staff. Even if it is quiet you may have... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
