Brilliant

We descended on this Bistro yesterday afternoon, 9 adults and 4 children (from Scotland, France and Sweden), and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Just as good as ever having moved slightly up river. Catered for 10 of us at a table for lunch efficiently and attentively. Particularly delightful selection of desserts. Everyone more than happy with main courses also. Good attention to detail. Great service. Good value for money. Will try to visit again soon.

A visit to The Water of Leith Cafe Bistro is like coming home to a family dinner, but with the added advantage of eating nothing but outstandingly good food! The welcome from Ana couldn't have been nicer and all of the staff were warm and friendly, but not over-attentive in their service throughout. The Bistro is light and spacious enough... More

Excellent, hearty food, cooked from fresh with a seasonal slant. French chef, Michael imports into Edinburgh some of his age old family recipes. The pork cheeks were melt in the mouth. An interesting menu with great healthy options for children.

Very nice cafe. Found it as reviewed as the best cullen and skink in Edinburgh and they were right, delicious. Go for the big bowl with oatcakes you won't be disappointed.

I visited this place twice so far and loved the food, the chef seems very passionate about food. I loved the vegetarian curry dish. Cakes were amazing. Coffee wasn't the greatest but you can forgive them as this is not a coffee shop. I'd love to give this place a better review but on both occasions I felt that the... More

Small, bright bistro, with pleasantly unfussy decor. Evening meals now available Friday and Saturday. Core menu looks a little "safe" but there are plenty of specials on the blackboard providing a good range of choices for starters and mains. Wine list is short (3 reds, 3 whites and a rose) but so well chosen, there is something suitable for any... More

We have enjoyed a great Silver Wedding Celebration that was well organised and 32 guests had a great meal and night out. Everything ran smoothly and from tge start Ana was very helpful in organising the menu and drinks for a varied group of people. The food was cooked to perfection by Mickael and the timing was spot on. I... More
