Stopped here for a cup of tea and cake. Tea is tea so can not say much about it but the pear and almond cake was fresh and moist and very satisfying. The food menu looked interesting and good value as well so will definitely return to try the food. Nice location, clean and welcoming. Would recommend a visit.

I believe they are only open in the evenings on Fri and Sat, but we booked to go to Luigi's Italian restaurant. The phone number is the same but finding the place was difficult due to the name change. Anyway the cuisine is British and the smallish menu was mouth watering. Our choices were lovely. Well worth a visit for... More

Our meals were probably the best we've had in our week and a half of touring Scotland. My husband chose from the three course menu (duck salad-more duck than exped, pork loins and an amazing chocolate/rum cheesecake) and I had a vegetarian option, sweet potato and chick pea curry with basmati rice (full of flavors and smelled wonderful). We are... More

We had a lovely lunch here with our friends who are regulars. There was a good selection of specials available ranging in price from about £5 to £10. My wife and I went for the Confit of Duck in spiced plum sauce with vegetables. The duck was very tasty and well cooked. The service was excellent. The owner made you... More

We descended on this Bistro yesterday afternoon, 9 adults and 4 children (from Scotland, France and Sweden), and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They pushed enough tables together so we could all sit together. The food was very good - from the children's meals, the Cullen Skink, the fishcakes, the Croque Monsieur to the Sticky Toffee Pudding! In... More

Just as good as ever having moved slightly up river. Catered for 10 of us at a table for lunch efficiently and attentively. Particularly delightful selection of desserts. Everyone more than happy with main courses also. Good attention to detail. Great service. Good value for money. Will try to visit again soon.

A visit to The Water of Leith Cafe Bistro is like coming home to a family dinner, but with the added advantage of eating nothing but outstandingly good food! The welcome from Ana couldn't have been nicer and all of the staff were warm and friendly, but not over-attentive in their service throughout. The Bistro is light and spacious enough... More

Excellent, hearty food, cooked from fresh with a seasonal slant. French chef, Michael imports into Edinburgh some of his age old family recipes. The pork cheeks were melt in the mouth. An interesting menu with great healthy options for children.

Very nice cafe. Found it as reviewed as the best cullen and skink in Edinburgh and they were right, delicious. Go for the big bowl with oatcakes you won't be disappointed.
