Just got back from a couple of nights staying here with my wife. Really nice / clean hotel . Good location only about 5 minutes walk from city centre. Room was clean and comfortable and also very quiet. Recommend breakfast , loads of choice , all hot and fresh and staff could not do enough to help. Would definately go... More

We had an afternoon and early evening of Fringe shows at The Pleasance and I booked this restaurant for dinner because of its proximity to the venue, the decent reviews on this site and the fact that the head chef has proclaimed that, “…you should experience something you cannot in your own home. Your food should always exceed expectations.” So,... More

We were attending an early show at the Edinburgh fringe with friends and wanted to catch a bite to eat afterwards, The restaurant we normally would take friends to was fully booked, so having passed the hotel many times we thought we would give it a try as it was only 5 minutes away from the gig. We were a... More

I have to add to a previous first class review on this hotel. The empty resturant explained clearly by our ghastly Mother's Day carvery!! Serious need for a good chef to be employed here as the quality including taste, appearance and choice is abysmal. The rest of the hotel including breakfast menu, cleanliness and staff attitude is 200%. Please do... More

Welcomed by pleasant staff who explained about the carvery offer. For £8 95 you get either a glass of La Brouttee Blanc or Rouge, a pint of Carling Lager or stiil or sparkiling wine plus a carvery. We had Mustard covered gammon and chicken plus new potatoes and veg all very tasty. The piece de resistance however was the excellnet... More

Our visit to this hotel was yet another voucher deal – anyone who followed the Beau Peep cartoon strip will know Dennis referred to vultures as vouchers and I have an absolute venue of them! This one was £79 for an overnight stay for two, with £20 per head toward dinner, full breakfast and admission to The Royal College of... More

Went here with a party of friends to explore their Seasonal Menu deal (three courses of local in-season produce, including a glass of wine, for £19.95). We were not disappointed. Among the starters we particularly enjoyed the ham-hock and leek scotch pie, the smoked haddock and clam Cullen skink, and the cherry-smoked duck leg. For mains the Scotch rib eye... More

A modern hotel complete with a la carte restaurant (which is used as a carvery during the day I believe) and its own wine bar (with a small selection of whiskys). It's a little tucked away in the back streets of Edinburgh's old town (so no views to speak of) but still only a few minutes walk from the Royal... More

Unless needed in a pinch for lunch or dinner, stick to just the included breakfast or a late-nite drink with a snack.
