Great Service, Good Food and Friendly Staff

I've visited a few times over the last few months and every time the food has been excellent. That coupled with friendly and very well dressed staff and crisp white table linen makes this a bit of an event restaurant. Good value and worth a visit for sure.

Visited The Cavalry Club having been away from Edinburgh for many years. The original address was over the road.. In it's heyday it was the bees knees, smart liveried staff and a grand design, opulent and truly fantastic food. Times have changed.. Today it's just another restaurant with little to commend above all the rest. I had a lamb madras... More

This is some of the best Indian food I have ever had. The mango/tamarind chicken was delicious, and an interesting change from the North Indian cuisine that's available at home. It's not cheap, but not much is in the UK it seems.

Thanks for writing a review. We use only the freshest ingredients and our award winning chefs will settle for nothing short of the best. As an established restaurant in the city centre, we aim to have something for all diner's budgets. A list of set menus such as pre-theatre 3 courses start from £13.95. A bit disappointed in the quality of the food and the cost of it, which I thought was a bit expensive for what we were served. The service was ok as well.

Thanks for leaving us a review. Our chefs source the freshest premium ingredients and all dishes are prepared at order. For years the Cavalry Club slogan has been "famously fine food". Please know that our staff are always happy to replace dishes if they fall short of our diner's expectations. Best wishes, Indian Cavalry Club More

I booked a table here for the 2 of us after reading the reviews on here. The starter was lovely and the main course arrived shortly afterwards, friendly staff and nicely decorated, would recommend to anyone, I will definitely be back!

The location was right next to our hotel and the place looked really nice. The starter tasted good l liked the chutney they had there. When the dinner came it looked soo good, and I was very impressed with it. Sadly it did not tasted as nice as I hoped and it was more a stew feel to it than... More

This was our first visit to this restaurant. It was recommended by a friend and we certainly were not disappointed. The surroundings were not like most Indian restaurants. It has a modern open feeling and decoration. The staff were very friendly and helpful and Johnny the manager made our visit very welcoming and capped the evening by offering a complimentary... More

Ate here quite early one evening when we were the first ones there. Service was quick and efficient but quite formal. Menu is extensive so it can take a while to choose what to have. Food arrived quickly and was really good. Servings were generous and flavours were great. If you love classic Indian give it a try.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
