Chance Selection during festival

We chance upon the restaurant at about 8.00 without booking. We able to get the window seat and we just had a main meal with a glass of wine. The meal was great both of which were seafood. Our friends turned up at the end of our meal and the proprietor was ok with them sitting with us till we... read more

Im not sure if we chose the wrong night to eat here but the 3 stars I have awarded are generous to say the least we were given bread and butter, the bread was very stale and dry they did offer to replace when we complained though. The stroganoff was tasteless and my husbands Steak was awful, i had ordered... More

how people can give 5 stars for this restaurant is beyond me. Visited during the festival and found the food bland, the drinks tiny and the service erratic. It was rather busy and the staff were pleasant enough but that does not make up for the defects. I completely agree with the other negative reviews. Oh, and it's not cheap.

We visited as a group of four without booking on a Wednesday evening. The staff were all great, very friendly and eager to help and with lots of recommendations. I had a bellini to drink which was ok but missing the peach puree which was disappointing. I then chose lobster ravioli for main course, a special which had been recommended... More

Found this restaurant completely by chance and so enjoyed it we just had to go back a few days later. Fantastic Italian food and great service,it's sure to become one of our favourite places to eat when in town.

Went here for our lunch yesterday and it was lovely. Good portion sizes and very tasty food. The interior is nice and cosy too. The only thing I can fault is they run out of tiramisu. However, I would come back for sure.

Stumbled upon this restaurant in between shows at the festival and so glad we did. Lovely food, great staff and nice atmosphere inside. Wanted something quick and simple and opted for goats cheese starter, which was nicely cooked in breadcrumb and served with a tasty tomato sauce and for mains opted for the lasagne which was fresh and tasty and... My friend and I booked a table for the Special £3.95 lunch. Nice welcome by one of the Italian staff. For the price the food was good and portion size perfect for lunch. We had to ask for bread though as none was put on the table as is normal in most Italian restaurants. We bought cocktails and wine so... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
