Competent and busy Italian place, rather cramped

This is a decent and competent Italian restaurant, individual in style and energetically managed by a real Italian. We had everything we needed, and the service was efficient and prompt. There are full meat dishes on the menu as well as just pizza and pasta, and there is a specials board It's in... read more

Their lunches are excellent value and the food is first class. However they have a huge problem with service. They only had 2 waiters on duty the day I went there and they were running around like crazy but at the same time they didn't seem to be doing much! They kept saying "Sorry" to their customers. Maybe the evenings... More

We went here around 14:45 and had the 3-course lunch for only £5.95 per person, you can choose the pasta/pizza from the menu and you can hardly finish the whole meal yourself! Nice family run restaurant!! The staff and the chef are nice and very friendly!!

Went here for a meal on a hen party, we arrived an hour early but they still accommodated us. Very attentive staff. I had a chicken in white wine sauce and it was absolutely delicious. If I lived locally I would definitely eat here regularly.

Went here for my boyfriends birthday and it did not disappoint. To start he had the garlic mushrooms which looked and tasted great and I had the chicken liver pate which was delicious. I then had the sea bass from the specials board and it was absolutely delicious and a great portion. Only slight criticism I would have was my... More

We had a great lunch here. The three course lunch special can't be beat. At only £5,95, it's a real bargain. I had the soup, a pizza, and the panna cotta, and they were all delicious. Highly recommend this place!

The one thing in life I love is a seafood pasta until tonight. The description on the menu was inviting and I was looking forward to some sword fish an extra treat. Alas the treat never arrived. The seafood extravaganzas consisted of a nice pasta and sauce 1 prawn mussels that had no taste and were past their best by... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
