different Indian restaurant

Hadnt booked, but we were walking past, feeling hungry, and it looked nice. No flock wallpaper or cheesy music. Menu looked excellent, quite different to the usual standard dishes, for instance lobster, guineau fowl or venison in different curry combinations. We went for monkfish kebabs to start... read more

Popped in for a quick dinner on a week night. Having been there previously for a work christmas lunch and been very impressed last December I was looking forward to it. However - the menu has changed, and the prices have risen - a lot! £12 for a curry, £3.50 for rice. I order lamb and spinach. It was okay... More

Great meal, new format, fantastic deserts! We have been previously but with change of ownership this has got better. I've never particularly enjoyed Indian desserts but these were exceptional

We have been to Mumbai Mansion on a number of occasions. There have been a few changes; new menu and new staff. The changes have made a good restaurant into an exceptionally good one. We will definitely be back

What a beautiful meal we had here. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the surroundings were very pleasing. The food was so tasty, and the flavours were very authentic. We have nothing but praise for this restaurant and would definitely go back again. I would not usually have a dessert in an Indian restaurant, but... More

The restaurant it's self is beautiful and feels spacious and modern but with a traditional feel too. The food was perfect it was fragrant filling and cooked to perfection. The menu was diverse and a refreshing change from standard Indian menus. Deserts were lovely too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a fantastic experience would go... More

We went for monkfish kebabs to start - lovely- and the pea/sweetcorn fritters, which were tasty. Poppadums crisp and nice... More

Looks can be deceiving. But, we got inside and there were people of Indian descent (great sign). Service was wonderful and our meal was beautifully done. We started the meal with Tandoori Mushrooms (the tamarind sauce and raita added to the wonderful tandoori mushrooms. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Pakora were beautifully spiced. I generally don't eat wheat, but... More

I went here with some folks from work before a tasting at a near by wine shop. This gave us a time limit on the meal of an hour which given that it was dead (maybe 3 or 4 tables total) on a monday night should have been enough to produce 5 main courses. Service was pretty terrible, only having... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
