Good food, fantastic cake

Go here once a week for takeaway lunch. Staff are lovely and food is made up while you wait. There is a wonderful selection of food, cakes and drinks. The strawberry tarts are the best I have ever tasted. However there can be quite a wait especially for coffee and at bust times

I see that I reviewed La Cerise in 2012. I have been back a few times since then as I like their soup, but service is always slow but when I popped in today it was back to a new low. I waited for at least 5 minutes, 2 people were working behind the counter (no idead what they were... More

There are few cafés in the area and La Cerise have good business. Their food is good, but service is real let down. Considering the number of staff who are serving, and that most orders are simple, or even ready, I find it difficult to comprehend why the average wait for your food is at least five minutes! The staff... More

We have gone in la Cerise many times in the past. We knew their coffee and pastries were really good. We went there on Saturday morning and smell of fat was terrible. When we left our clothes had the smell of 'all day breakfasts' for three hours. Shame, because la Cerise was an oasis of taste.

Been meaning to come here for ages and finally made it. Nice coffee and tempting array of cakes (we shared the Baileys one .. very yummy). Will come back and try another soon.

We stopped in here recently for lunch, ordering the haggis and sweet potato lattice; it was a really interesting combination, which I enjoyed a lot. They serve great coffee, I didn’t have anything else, however the cakes looked divine, one of my friends had the strawberry tartlet, which he really enjoyed. The food displays are beautiful and so inviting with... More

Not wanting to partake in the greasy spoon cages along Great Junction Street on this occasion, we popped into La Cerise and were very pleasantly surprised. There was a variety of sandwich options and some nice salads, plus cakes and buns if that's what you're after. The cold drink selection was also good as I do not go in for... More

A great little cafe, friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. The Farmer's Roast sandwich was superb and the cakes and desserts are above and beyond what you would expect from a small cafe. The only downside was the not so brilliant coffee

It may look small but it's perfectly formed. With seating downstairs as well as up, this cafe is tucked away on the corner of a main thoroughfare in Leith and serves, frankly, an amazing array of cakes, smoothies and yes, even coffee. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and decent opening hours too. Definitely worth a look - and much much more.

This is one of my favourite cafe's in Edinburgh never mind Leith. The food never fails to disappoint, the cakes are excellent and the service superb. They really enjoy what they do and this shines throuhg in every aspect.
