Been meaning to come here for ages and finally made it. Nice coffee and tempting array of cakes (we shared the Baileys one .. very yummy). Will come back and try another soon.

We stopped in here recently for lunch, ordering the haggis and sweet potato lattice; it was a really interesting combination, which I enjoyed a lot. They serve great coffee, I didn’t have anything else, however the cakes looked divine, one of my friends had the strawberry tartlet, which he really enjoyed. The food displays are beautiful and so inviting with... More

Not wanting to partake in the greasy spoon cages along Great Junction Street on this occasion, we popped into La Cerise and were very pleasantly surprised. There was a variety of sandwich options and some nice salads, plus cakes and buns if that's what you're after. The cold drink selection was also good as I do not go in for... More

A great little cafe, friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. The Farmer's Roast sandwich was superb and the cakes and desserts are above and beyond what you would expect from a small cafe. The only downside was the not so brilliant coffee

It may look small but it's perfectly formed. With seating downstairs as well as up, this cafe is tucked away on the corner of a main thoroughfare in Leith and serves, frankly, an amazing array of cakes, smoothies and yes, even coffee. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and decent opening hours too. Definitely worth a look - and much much more.

This is one of my favourite cafe's in Edinburgh never mind Leith. The food never fails to disappoint, the cakes are excellent and the service superb. They really enjoy what they do and this shines throuhg in every aspect.

I got a salad to take away yesterday at lunch time. £3.90 for a vegetarian salad is a bit expensive but the salad box was full to the brim of tasty veggies like sundried tomatoes, mixed roasted veg, peppers, jalapenos, brie, sweetcorn, lettuce etc. I will be going back for another one today.

I live locally but never been to La Cerise until yesterday. Cakes were so yummy I bought a couple for later to share with hubby! They have a great selection of herbal teas and lovely coffee too. Staff were great too. It's small but quite good atmosphere with lovely music in the background. At £2.50 a slice cakes are much... More

The coffee was OK but not the best, the pastry was spoilt by being warmed in a microwave (it makes them soggy). The other cakes on display looked yummy. After the excellent reviews felt it was a bit over rated.

I work in the area and occasionally venture in for a quick lunch. On this afternoon I had the misfortune of being served by the worst-mannered employee, and I was really put off from the meal. I've had much better experiences here before as the food is homemade and tasty. I'll be avoiding the place whenever I see the gal... More
