Great place, good food, good service!

Very close to the Royal Mile, good pub food and enjoyable atmosphere. Great service, considering I went there with 13 friends and it was almost impossible to find a spot, but the waitresses were kind enough to let us mess with the tables until we found a way to fit us all in.

Took us forever (over an hour) to get served, even though the place was far from packed. When food did come, it was bad. Sizzling plates of fajitas that had been sitting in the heater for 30 minutes maybe? Bad burgers, with missing ingredients but without the specific of the order (no chese). Stale beer. Manager came and apologized for... More

Spent a lot of free time here during the fringe, basement is a bit small for a comedy venue but has great shows that more than make up for it. Downstairs bar has a juke box, serves decent pub food, a good selection of beer & whisky and has a pool table. Friendly staff and a decent atmosphere made this... More

Popped in during our visit to a very, very busy Edinburgh last night. Staff cheerful, drinks inexpensive, music lively in a central location. Top cheap boozer.

Room to talk, eat and listen to live music-right in the middle of the action. We visited here a couple of times during our couple of days stay during the fringe festival,,,well worth a visit and have taken home music and memories to remember this place.

I have never been disappointed with The Tron. It was the first place I had a meal when I arrived in Edinburgh. Great prices and food. Although the service can be better. I recommend everything on the menu. Good drinks selection as well.

I was through in Edinburgh yesterday visiting a friend, once we had arrived we sat in the downstairs area, we had ordered a nachos to share and a hot dog. We were told there would be an hour wait for food, granted we only waited about 15 mins but, the nachos were tolerable, could've done with a little more as... More

I went there (on 23/07) with 3 friends to have lunch. The place wasn't so busy but there was only one guy taking orders and the food to the tables. He was really friendly (talking in our mother language and all), he also seemed in such a good mood despite all the work he had to do. He's basically the... More

This is a cheap and cheerful pub, offering good food and cheap drinks. The food was quite nice although the portion sizes are smallish but saying that i was a cheap place to eat so was expected. The staff are really pleasant and friendly and its a overall nice place to eat.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
