Large 3 level pub in the centre of Edinburgh. We have some of the cheapest drink selections in town so we are very popular with students and backpackers. Traditional pub food served at brilliantly low prices. We are not affiliated with the venue known as the Tron Kirk.

Great as a venue during the Festival

Noticed the door was open and popped in to discover a small craft market in the area where festival events take place. A small café was operating. I usually go during the Festival when it is a venue and you can fully appreciate the historic building in all it's glory.

It's my first time in Scotland and coming to the tron definitely made the trip even better. The staff was lovely, especially the French guy in the top bar. Will definitely come back and have already suggested the tron to my friends.

Nice pub in Edimburgh old town. We had burger and fries and the cheapest pints of beer in the hole trip through scotland due to the offers they make depending on the day of the week

I have to admit I'm a bit wary of entering pubs and such on my own, but I took a chance on The Tron and it was a great decision. Not many customers on a Tuesday lunch time but a few around. I ordered the small scampi and chips and a Strongbow. Bartender/waiter was no skimp, filled the glass all... More

To start we had the breaded mushrooms that were delicious especially when we added tarter sauce. Then I had the spicy chicken burger it's was a grill chicken burger with lettuce tomato and onion with hot sauce and curly fries. My boyfriend had the hotdog it came with cheese and bacon both were great. They both came as a meal... More

From outside it presents itself as an anymore pub. The menu offers some very interesting meals (such as the "Pork Bonanza", a mix of pork, sausages, pulled pork, and the "Skyscraper Hamburger" which is really a Man VS Food session). Unfortunately my wife's meal, full rack of pork ribs, arrived completely burned up. It was un-eatable. She asked something else... More

Currently sitting in the restaurant and am having such a thoroughly outstanding experience that I'm compelled to start my review now. We arrived around 12:30pm to find the place packed, with only one table in the family area available. There's one waiter/barman, who seems to be running the front on his own. But that's ok, he's doubt an awesome job.... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
