Soul Satisfying Lebanese Cuisine

After traveling around the country for a couple of weeks, we were finally ready for a non-traditional Scottish meal - and yes, we were craving Lebanese food. Who knew we'd find a Lebanese restaurant in Edinburgh and a great one at that? We totally devoured the kibbeh shameyieh, shish tawouk, as... read more

Visited this restaurant with a friend last month on a Saturday afternoon. What can I say? I was very impressed! The restaurant was quiet which was really nice for a change and we were served very quickly. We ordered the set menu for two which really could have been for three or four as there was more than enough to... More

Hummus and Shawerma are so tasty. I ordered grilled chicken, the quantity is excellent and the taste is amazing. I recommend this restaurant for people looking for middle eastern food.

Beirut's food is excellent. As someone from a middle-eastern background, I can genuinely say that Beirut's food is no different than the lebanese food served in the Middle East's finest Lebanese restaurants. Also, great service and friendly staff. Good value for money. Definitely going again and would recommend it to anyone fancying a nice yet affordable meal!

What a wonderful find, tucked in between the University and Nicholson Street. Delicious hot and cold mezze dishes from wonderfully flavoured chicken livers to excellent smoky eggplant. The mains are generous and include a wide variety of grilled meats served with salad and perfectly spiced rices as well as braised meats in sauces and several tempting vegetarian dishes. A simple... A quiet, homely and friendly place in the middle of town which looked like it was family run. Having not had Lebanese food before, it was certainly worth the experience topped up with Lebanese coffee at the end of the meal. Generous servings are appropriate to share if you want space for starters and desserts.

Visited here for lunch a few weeks back. Restaurant was quiet so we got seated quickly and ordered the sharing lunch. First up was a massive platter of assorted starters, all of which were brilliant and tasty. The whole plate was incredibly vibrant and fresh. Next up was an assortment of meats with salad which were again cooked beautifully and... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
