Invited some out of town friends and we all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Varied menu so good for me as a vegetarian and my meat loving friend. Fair price and byob meant we were able to bring nice wine to make it even better value.

It's BYOB, which my group found nice. Ordered 8 dishes to share, and they were all delicious. Nice atmosphere and very good service. On the whole, exellent!

Went to this brilliant resturaunt with my wife in October 2015 and have since been back twice. My works xmas meal was here. Even on the friday before xmas, as most of Edinburgh's resturaunts went into profiteering mode, Beruit were doing a lunchtime menu which offered a main plus a side dish/starter for an impressive £7!! The food was of... More

The food here is so delicious. The waiter is very attentive and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. It is also BYOB! 4 of us ate A LOT of food and our bill was £90 so pretty good value I'd say. Would defo recommend the aubergine stuffed starter - no7. So tasty. Will definitely be back!

A friend and myself visited here for the first time to a Lebanese Restaurant. They wanted to seat us at a small table in the middle of the room, but as it was not busy, asked for a larger side table, and they acceded to the request. As it is a BYOB place we duly had our own wine with... More

We went to Beirut for the 3rd time last night for a "date night" whilst the kids were out. It was fantastic (as always). Staff were very attentive and the food was out of this world. I had Kibbeh Shameyieh to start which is the best tasting starter I have had in any restaraunt. I would highly recommend the Shawarma... More

We love Lebanese food and happened upon this restaurant while on an errand. Reviews were good so the next chance we had, we visited with a friend. We were all hungry, so a mixture of hot'n'cold starters went down a treat. We had four between us - probably too many if you are going on to mains but ideal if... More

I was looking for a restaurant for my team night out at the last minute and Beirut said we could have a table at 6pm as long as we vacated by 20:15 which is fair enough. We knew it was BYOB so we arrived with wine which wasn't a problem. No-one had been here before so I was a bit... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
