Small and cosy cafe located close to Inverleith Park. I have visited here a few times now and each time it is good. Reasonably priced, the choices of soups and sandwiches are good. They do a soup and sandwich/toasties offer for around £6 which is very good considering the portion sizes. Would recommend this cafe to anyone looking for an... More

The soup here is fantastic! The toasties come with lovely fresh salad. It's also a great place to just have a coffee and read the papers. Stockbridge is getting a bit uppity and flash but this place really captures what Stockbridge always was: a friendly, unfussy and authentic neighbourhood on the edge of the New Town. A real treasure!

Having been travelling for hours we stopped by this cafe on the off-chance of finding a good hearty breakfast and although they didn't have a full English/Scottish breakfast on the menu, the friendly lady who served us had no hesitation in offering to make a fry-up. And very nice it was too! Lovely food and great service, what more can... More

Delightful cafe in the Stockbridge area of the capital, serving excellent coffee and homemade fare. This small cafe staffed by helpful and friendly staff provides a welcome change from the big players. Staff are more than happy to provide what you would like if different from the menu.

Being a local, can't believe I haven't been before, great food and great value, with a really nice atmosphere and friendly service. Breakfast rolls and fantastic coffee this time, but the soup, sandwiches and cakes look amazing too. Will definitely be a regular from now on!

After reading reviews to save time on our weekend break in Edinburgh we were not disappointed when we chose Cafe Plum for lunch on our first day. We had the best Leek and Potato soup I have ever tasted and a cream tea with scones almost straight from the oven. The cafe filled up very quickly and I would recommend... More

Such a warm and friendly atmosphere in this place. The lunch was lovely and the staff were very attentive. The food was served quickly and tasted great, and as an herbal tea fan I was happy to have such a variety to choose from :). Really liked the paintings on display as well and the café is situated in a... More

What a lovely little Cafe, the most friendliest of welcomes, we popped in just for coffee and toast on our way back to the airport, and the service blew me away. Lovely lady couldn't do enough for us. The coffee was nice as was the toast made with real bread, real butter and lovely jam. Recommend this place to anyone... More

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighborhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighborhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
