Fantastic large portions. Beautiful food. Outstanding customer service from the friendly waiting staff. First time I’ve been, won’t be the last!!

A good friend of ours had suggested trying La'Telve and we were not disappointed. Some may say that it is a bit "caféish" but don't worry, the food makes up for any surroundings. This is a day-time café not an evening dining out destination. Armed...with the menu, our eyes couldn't leave the "all day" breakfast" section. Scottish, Mediterranean, Turkish version, Burritos, porridge and much more. We decided to choose the Turkish dish of eggs and yogurt. We asked for some extra chilli sauce which could spice up the yoghurt if you wanted. The eggs were a little overdone; I always want to "stab" mine and see the deep yellow yolks follow across the yogurt. We also ordered the vegan Gozleme (flatbread) which came sliced in strips which we found easy for sharing and easy to keep count on how much the other person had eaten. The vegan flatbread came with sundried tomatoes instead of cheese which came with the vegetarian option. My Turkish coffee was very good although it took a bit of explaining to the waiter that he should be asking if I wanted sugar and if so, how much. Sadly no dessert but we liked the cake display so much that we stopped on our way South and bought a couple for our journey. A must do repeatMore

Had a Mexican chicken sandwich which was nice but was really a fajita. Have had take away cakes and macarons before which are also nice.

Lovely place for breakfast or lunch. Run by friendly Turkish staff, the food was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly. They obviously have their walk in customers who are regulars, but we were made to feel very welcome.

My go-to place when I want to treat myself to a good slice of cake. Loads of choice, always! Are some cakes better than others? If so, then I must pick very well, but I suspect the whole range is really good. I haven't really...explored the menu beyond cakes (apart from a gozleme once, which I also enjoyed): more sweets, breakfast options, savoury options, Turkish recipes,... I am very tempted to try the lot, if given long enough, but I'll recommend the cakes for the time being.More

My son loves the croque monsieur. I’m a huge fan of the gozleme. Lots of options for vegetarians. The scones alone are worth the visit.

Best place in Morningside! I have been coming for 3 years now and they just get better and better. Super friendly staff, amazing cakes, lovely breakfast. All refurbished now and looking super lovely. Stopped in for a late brunch/lunch, and decided on a whim (after seeing a photo!) to try the Turkish Breakfast - this was a very good choice! A big bowl of Shashuka, a basket of breads and a feta pastry, and a tray of little...side dishes - olives, feta abd cheeses, honey, tomatos and salad, thyme potatos (herby and fragrant!) a poached egg in yoghurt, spiced peppers and mushrooms, and a crushed cheese and spices spread (although i ended up just eating it with a spoon) All of the tastes worked so well together, and it was filling but not too rich (loads of vegetables!) ... Honestly, i could eat this every day. The only difficulty was fitting everything on the table! My partner had a Scottish Breakfast that was also great - just slightly overshadowed! Also, the vibe and decor is lovely, the cakes are fantastic, and the staff are super friendly!More

My husband and I decided to give this place a 2nd go yesterday, having had a bit of a bad experience here last summer with over cooked breakfasts. It always looks full, and the food in the windows very appetising, from the outside - so...we thought it may have been a bit of a fluke. Sadly, this was not the case. I will try to be brief about why this dining experience was of no enjoyment, so to get to the point: a) we were shown to a dirty table that nobody wiped down - i brushed crumbs off my seat and the table, but really oughtn't to have had to b) a waitress took our drinks order then vanished for such a long time some other 2 people then attempted to do the same thing. not a great start c) our food arrived with no cutlery, and it took a while to get anyone's attention about this. things continuing in a bad direction... d) my partners 'poached' eggs were in effect hardboiled - it took him a while to catch anyone's attention to mention this as well, and the young man replied it was 'a language / cultural barrier' to blame, with no apology. i mean, that just can't be right?! e) i ordered pancakes with nutella which was meant to come with a variety of fruits including banana - i received a single slice of kiwi, no banana, a tiny handful of blueberries and three thin slices of apple. For nearly £8 this seemed ridiculous - neither they nor the small scoop of nutella were adequate to cover the three pancakes with. I get people run out of things, but if that was the case it should have been mentioned & i would have ordered something else! f) there was a frenetic energy to the place, with waiting staff not seeming to have clear tables of their own bumbling around and management going in and out a trap door repeatedly in the midst of the cafe?? (at one point this involved asking patrons to move out the way! Surely not safe or professional) g) when we asked for the bill my un-finished soft drink and the tissue i was in the middle of using were snatched up by the staff ?? just... why?More

Wow this place is incredible. Authentic, tasty and amazing selection of food and pastry… and brilliant staff. The atmosphere within allows you to feel like your in France. Such a brilliant place. Can’t wait to return.

Tepid cooked breakfasts are never going to be nice. We waited a while for the food. My granddaughter's classic breakfast looked as if it had been reheated at least once. Not at all appetising. And my poached eggs were on bread I could hardly cut...through. Oh dear.More

The window display looks gorgeous, with a beautiful variety of cakes, tarts and other goodies. It tempted me inside. I sat down but the waiter ignored me, so after a couple of minutes I went up to the table and got a menu myself. The...waiter saw me and apologised for the delay, saying it was busy. Half the tables were in use, the other half were empty. I'd hate to see what service is like there when all the tables are occupied. When I finally managed to place my order, and finally received my order... I got a slice of cake, which was probably the worst I've tasted in Edinburgh. It was dry and tasteless. I reckon it was defrosted. But even then, defrosted supermarket cakes tend to have more flavour than this did. The tea was good, but the teapot was rather awkward and had a spectacular drip so a fair amount of tea ended up on my table. (Shame none went over the cake - it might have made it more moist, hehe). Overall, admire the cake display in the window. Then walk straight past.More
