It is where the Chinese go to eat for more authentic type Chinese food. Never disappointed when I come here, no frills, but as long as the food is good who cares.

I telephoned the Lee-on on 11 February to book for a party of 15 for a retirement dinner for a colleague. She chose this restaurant as we had our Christmas meal there and she loved it. When I phoned I asked if we could come and decorate the table with banners and ballons and yes that was no problem. On... More

Out for our film night again at the Dominion and were in the mood for Chinese Food. The Lee-on has been there for as long as we can remember although we had not visited in about 30 years! We were the only non-Chinese in the place, but did not feel a bit short changed. Food was fresh and tasty, took... More

This evening we ordered a take away from this restaurant and were very disappointed. To begin with the price was quite high, £30 for two main meals, two starters and two side dishes, so we thought the quality would be high too. However, it was one of the worst chinese take-aways I have tasted. The food was very bland and... More

My partner wanted to take me for a Chinese meal, he is not that keen and prefers Indian. He is from the west of Scotland, so left it to me to choose where to go, I knew this was a good restaurant years ago, and wanted to try to impress his taste buds. Which it did so much we are... More

Went in here for dinner on Sunday evening after having had a drink in a pub across the road. Opted for the set menu for 5 of us. Very shortly food started coming thick and fast,  dish after dish, each one more delicious than the preceding one! After soups and several starters, along came the crispy duck. Just as we... More

Been here in the past and found the food quite acceptable if pretty mainstream Western-type. It seems very popular with the local Chinese community, however, and they are offered an entirely different menu. Not speaking the language is a definite handicap here and, unlike some other Chinese restaurants we have been to in the city, no effort was made here... More

We have been coming here for many years, in fact my dad has been a customer since he moved to Edinburgh from Hong Kong as a teenager. Mrs Lee the patron had put on a banquet for my fiancée 21st and it was outstanding; as always. People slagging off the food obviously are not aware of what authentic Chinese is.... More

I've been to Lee On many times and it has never disappoint, although it can be slow at times. The food is family style food, comforting but not particularly refined. A note for those who rated this restaurant poorly: Many Chinese places in the UK have 2 menus. One in Chinese, and one in English (which seems to be the... More

When a chinese restaurant is full of chinese families it's a good sign. Don't be put off by decor the food is brilliant. Not all staff speak english very well so be patient! Not a place for a posh celebration but if you want really good food give it a try on informal occasion.
