My husband and I had lunch here yesterday and were more than disappointed. Our beloved P'tite Folie closed in February and we are trying to find somewhere similar. Chez Jules just was a million miles away. The food and service were mediocre. The cleanliness was also in doubt. The restaurant has a damp smell and there is a very peculiar... More

Very typical French bistro. If you actually are French you'll feel very much at home here. Good food, reasonably priced wine (the house white is a bit thin though - don't bother with it), even the bread is a decent approximation of the real thing, and their steak tartare is really not bad at all. Quite noisy, but friendly. Definitely... More

A friend and I went for steak frites to the sister restaurant - Pierre Victoire a month earlier. We both loved it. We decided to try this place. it is an absolute winner of a restaurant. We got the "whatever the French word is for antipasto" - unordered and uncharged - salad, salami, bread, olives, gherkins. Delicious! We both had... More

I joined a couple of former business contacts for dinner. Never been before and was impressed by the ambience. We arrived quite early at 7pm and by the time we left it was really busy. Plain wooden tables and chairs fairly close together with candles on all tables. You kept your cutlery between courses. Good starter of black pudding and... More

This was our first visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a good choice of dishes on the lunch menu. 3starters, three mains and two puddings. It was great bistro food at very reasonable prices. We will certainly make regular visits.

Ate here on a recent visit to Edinburgh at the suggestion of some local folks. It's really fun, lots of great artsy décor, graffiti etc, on the walls. You automatically get a nice salad, bread and salami/olive tray even before you order. Nice selection of food, and prices really reasonable. I'm no gourmet, and don't know a lot about French... More

We went here on a cold March day, and was expecting a quiet quaint french cafe. Well THAT got blown out the water. It was nicely busy, and laid out like a continental cafe. The food is AMAZING, we had Cock au vin, dauphinoise potatoes, french onion soup, braised steak with mustard mash, a bottle of wine for £30. BARGAIN.... More

Excellent value for money. Great food - standard French bistro stuff at very good prices, good service despite being very, very busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Set menu fantastic value for decent grub - £7.80 for 2 course - a good, filling seafood soup and a nice hanger steak with fries. £2 for a third course for desert - it... More
