The lunch menu is fantastic for the price, a deal of the century and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. House red was well pricedm Staff were difficult to get a hold of but quick and attentative once you catch them. Only downside was lack of space for highchair meaning we had to climb over and rearrange the place if ourselves... More

Hungry we had walked around and felt like a French Meal.So we entered a poorly lit eating area which contained a miss matched seating area.we ordered a meal and were brought an appetiser and my wine, after a reasonable amount of time a nice looking meal of chicken arrived.I cut into it and it was pink and uncooked as was my... You felt hungry and walked in a romantic candle lit French bistro. A good start. You sat on two chairs. You enjoyed a free salad, free "rosette de Lyon" a basket of freshly baked bread and butter and some olives and pickles. After a reasonable amount of time, a smiling waitress brought you your delicious glass of wine and took... More

.... Though the chef is a fine Scotsman! He told me that he had worked in Paris for a couple of years and it certainly shows. This is a no-frills restaurant in back street French style. Even the wine is served in cheap tumblers! But the food is excellent. If like me, you like French onion soup, it is the... More

Service was poor with a lack of attention to basics. No black pepper in the grinder, tumblers rather than wine glasses,

I visited this restaurant on May the 16th 2015. The staff were so lovely and accommodating- they found us a table even though we hand't booked and made sure we had everything that we needed throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the table that was available was one with benches instead of chairs. In some respects, this is nice as it is... More

Saggy Benches ???? A new one for me, I had heard of saggy bosoms, saggy bottoms, even once of a saggy baggy elephant... Never saggy benches and I have passed comments on different size bottle to the various artisans, how unfair can they be!!! I also wish my 75cl bottles of wine were larger at times! Sorry about the door,... More

I've been a couple of times for dinner to Chez Jules and really enjoy it there. The staff are friendly and the menu varied with good specials. The tables are a little cramped but the food is excellent. I had the surf and turf lobster and steak from the specials. Would highly recommend.

We went for lunch and it was extraordinary value for the quality we had. Rustic decor, great service and the food....tasty fish soup, gorgeous Moroccan lamb....it's the sort of place I wasn't going to put on Tripadvisor as I wanted to keep this gem to myself!

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
