Recently used a voucher for a deal here and afternoon tea came with a Kir Royale. The cocktail and setting were very nice. The afternoon tea was ok. Only 3 small triangles of sandwiches - which were tasty and some nice little bite size cakes. The sandwiches and cakes arrived well in advance of the tea - and when the... More

Two of us chose the Chrisrmas set menu and the other a la carte. We all loved our food, the service was excellent and the atmosphere warm and relaxed. We thought the wine was a bit pricey but maybe we should have realised it would be, given the name of the place!

An early evening supper that was reasonably good. Certainly the service was good and friendly and attentive without being overly solicitous even when they got busier as time moved on. We had only one course and my dandelion and burdock roasted ham hock was generous and tasty though I have no idea if any dandelion or burdock made it into... More

The main Bistro space is a bit gloomy now with all the black candles, but service was excellent. I imagine the large menu comes in from head office? Chef does manage to make the food very Pub Grub like. I had never been offered Shepherds Pie filled with good duck before, and despite the poor mash lid the duck was... More

The atmosphere of the Bistro is only matched by its service and food. The waiter listened to what I wanted, service was immaculate and non-intrusive, and they even took additional care to allow me to take my drink and dessert into the Whisky room after dinner. A fabulous place that is relaxing and quite enjoyable. Very affordable for the quality... More

Attracted by previous passing sightings of the twinkling courtyard lights and a menu with veggie options we finally visited with friends last night. This is a really lovely restaurant - nice atmosphere and excellent service from attentive, friendly staff. Reviewing food is always difficult because it is so subjective and personal ......My starter of cheese soufflé was a veritable mountain... More

Picked up a decent offer from a voucher website for champagne lunch, the staff were all very helpful however the food was dubious to say the least, the starters were reasonable but the issues started when the mains arrived, my other half ordered the skate and when it arrived it was literally inedible, not sure what was going on in... My daughter & I enjoyed afternoon tea at the Hotel Du Vin with a Kir Royale each, for a very good price from one of the voucher sites. I'd never been before & was keen to visit, due to the site's historical connection with the old 'Bedlam' Asylum. Afternoon tea was lovely, great value for money. We were seated on... More

My boyfriend and I went to the Hotel Du Vin in Edinburgh for a Halloween dinner event, IT WAS AMAZING. With this hotel being a converted asylum, it was the perfect setting for a night of spooky tales. We were given cocktails (eye of newt) to start and were lead into a private room for the main event. The room... More
