great food

Visited the Bistro today for a birthday lunch. It is a lovely place and the service could not be faulted. The hotel is a pleasant building, with a lovely open air court yard. We visited the restaurant on a Saturday night, during the time we were there it was busy with a nice ambience. We were dealt with efficiently by the staff, a theme which continued for the rest of the evening. We were disappointed by the menu which was... More

We were shown to our table though we were offered to have a drink at the bar. As it was Valentine's night we had a bottle of bubbly which came quickly and we then had time to study the extensive menu. We decided on the a la carte menu as against the 5 course Valentine Special menu of 5 courses... More

Hotel du Vin is great for Sunday lunch with friends or family. The set menu is fantastic value and there is a wide range of main courses and desserts from which to choose. Just don't get in my way when I'm heading to the excellent seafood selection at the market table. The crab, mussels and hot smoked salmon are fab-u-lous. The... More

My son treated my husband and myself to a 5pm champagne lunch , on arrival we were shown to a table for two at the window which was nice. I ordered garlic mussels and my husband pate both were good. We decided to have rump steak with fries as a main course , this was also good and our desserts... More

This was a pretheatre meal - and the Bistro was a very good choice. The menu is short, but varied, wih a particular emphasis on British favourites. The roast chicken was absolutely delicious, amongst the best I've ever tasted, served in generous portions with excellent frites. Our other main choice was a very good lemon sole - and lemon tart... We arrived for a prepaid meal offer, only to find an extremely limited menu, with few choices. Four for each course only. Then we were informed of what was off of the menu, which just happened to be the items I would have chosen. For example, the chicken option was replaced with duck which I do not like. The waiter... On first impressions all look good, very clean with a spacious layout. We where seated down the stairs in the restaurant. My husband explained that we had been gifted a voucher, which we had no problems presenting. We where given a set menu, which was very limited indeed. I had the quiche which was nothing out of the ordinary, the... More

We were given a gift voucher for Christmas amd decided to use it to cheer up a dreary January sunday. My husband activated the voucher and booked a table but then forgot to bring the voucher. We explained to staff on arrival who suggested we email the voucher. Husband tried but only had an email confirming voucher activated. I had... More

Had a great meal, mussels and chateaubriand and cheese. Started with a drink in the bar, fabulous service from start to finish. Cheese selection wasn't the best but didn't ruin a great meal.
