A little kitsch but good value

Don't be put off by the candy-pink facade of this shop. Serves a great variety of confectionery (think little chocolate animals, multiple types of fudge), as well as whole cakes. Visited both to stock up on Easter chocolate, as well as to buy a cake for a friend's birthday. The cake was good value... read more

Visited both to stock up on Easter chocolate, as well as to buy a cake for a friend's birthday. The cake was good value, and very tasty.

I recently purchased a cornflake cluster and when I went out and took it out of bag to eat I noticed a blonde hair mixes right through it and when I took it back in the old woman behind the counter didn't look too impressed!!! Needless to say it was hers!! She offered me a swap (without an apology).... Erm... More

Choco Latte is one of the most beautiful shops I have ever been to, when you walk in the smell of chocolate hits you and you see all of the decoration hanging from the ceiling and it makes you feel at home. There is so much to choose from including chocolate and coffee and hard boilings, tablet, fudge jelly sweets... More

choco-latte near the Meadows in Edinburgh is for me the ideal place to fulfil your chocolate desire, to indulge your passion for all things chocolate or sugar. They have everything from delicious cakes to simple barley sugars and everything inbetween. There is so much to chose from you could not go away empty handed. Much of the stuff is handmade... More

Nice enough place but I think a bit expensive for what it is. The cakes looked like tarted up efforts from Costco,no bad thing in my opinion but certainly not home made.

If you have a sweet tooth or a special occasion or perhaps the children have some spare pockets money, this is well worth a browse. Old fashion sweetie jars hold a selection of goodies, in the display there are sugar mice and chocolate frogs to name a few. Special cakes for a special occasion, and great big lollipops. Best shortcake I've ever had! I'd die for some of the recipes! The shop itself looks like a childhood dream come true.

Every conceivable kind of chocolate product from muffins to lollipops to chocolate animals and even some non-chocolate options for anyone strange enough to not want chocolate! Perfectly placed near Holyrood Park as a treat to reward a climb up Arthur's Seat.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
