Good food, lacks atmosphere.

The food was very nice, the Chateaubriand we ordered was not the biggest and was a little over cooked, but nice. The sauce I ordered was red wine and blue cheese, but was more or less red wine, so a little disappointing. The sides we ordered were nice but again could have been slightly larger. The... read more

Had dinner during our stay in Edinburgh, and had also stayed at the Rutland. Appetizers were delicious. The brought out a wooden platter and showed all the cuts of steak they offer and some information about each with recommended cooking temperatures. My wife and shared a bone in sirloin and it was delicious. Would definitely return during our next visit... More

Fabulous, informed service. Delicious food. Fabulous décor. The waitress promptly took us to our wonderfully decorated booth. She informed us of the selection of steaks available and the choice of wine to accompany the steak and sauce we chose. The ambiance was perfect and we were given as much time as we needed to choose and eat. The food was... More

This restaurant specialises in beef and has several varieties of steak available a la carte. It is situated in the Rutland Hotel, in central Edinburgh and a reservation is essential. We enjoyed our first meal there so much, that we went back for our second night in Edinburgh. You don't have to have beef, there is an extensive menu available.... More

Professional greeting and welcome by well trained staff. Perfect location in city. The prawn/crab starter one of the finest I ever had, and beautiful prepared trout as main course. Fries to die for. Wines excellent and all at very reasonable prices given the high quality of the establishment. Will be returning soon. Thanks Guys!

The food was delicious and the staff were very knowledgeable. The waiter gave us great advice on the types of steaks available and they were delicious!

Worst food we had in Scotland, hands down. The atmosphere was great and location awesome - we stayed at Rutland. My wife and I both feel we did not get the cuts we chose and to top it off we had a different waiter after our food arrived - weird. We sucked it up, did not complain and decided to... More

We had a great meal at Kyloe yesterday. Super steaks and puddings! Great choice of cuts, load of recommendation from the staff and lovely wine list. Unsurprisingly for a steak restaurant, it is not a great place for vegetarians/vegans, as they only had meat free dish which was an uninspiring mezze platter. Its a shame because our group has a... We fancied a steak on Sunday and found Kyloe online. We were a little early and so had a drink in the bar downstairs which is really lovely, it's interesting and eclectic with both the wine and the service being great. Once our table was ready we moved upstairs to the more intimate setting of Kyloe, it's not unlike Gaucho... More

My buddy and I just reserved a table the day before we went. The entire dining experience was great and we weren't rushed into finishing our meal.We both had steakes and both steakes where awsome! The drinks was aswsome also. I would like to give a special mention to the waiter's wine recommendation as it was the best red I... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
