Went for lunch this Saturday with a friend, and was looking forward to some really delicious food. Our starters were indeed both tasty (mussels and queenie scallops). Unfortunately the main event was rather the opposite. We both opted for the surf and turf club sandwich, and to be honest I ate it out of manners rather than any enjoyment (my... More

This is a long overdue review from a family birthday trip we made in March 2014. If you love Seafood cooked beautifully then this is the restaurant for you. Plus friendly and helpful staff and an excellent wine list. For starter we had the smoked salmon, fish cakes and scallops...all excellent, however unusually for me the mains were the stars... More

This restaurant is in Leith, the old shipping port connected to the north of Edinburgh. Leith has been utterly gentrified in the past 30 years and for my money contains more good restaurants per square mile than the rest of Edinburgh combined. This restaurant was converted from a bar about six yearsd ago and it's a great place for good... More

Lots of things on the menu looked good, but we stuck with the seafood which was very fresh and excellently prepared. Good location in Leith.

We had lunch here today after a stop on the hop on hop off bus. Id highly recommend it, the steak and lobster sandwich was huge and really tasty and the mussels were also brilliant.

A couple of weeks ago I made in impromptu visit back to Edinburgh for a small family reunion . A perfect reason to visit The Ship on the Shore . We didn't have a reservation but since it was early in evening deciding to try our luck . Although the place was starting to fill we were given a table... More

This was the second time we visited Ship on the Shore, to share their Fruits de Mer platter for 2. While on the pricey side, the fish is fresh, it's presented well and tastes great, although I'm glad my partner enjoys oysters as there were a lot of them on the platter. The chips that were served with it were... More

We visited in July for dinner and booked a table a day in advance. The place is not large, but nice and friendly without having to squeeze between the tables. We had the grilled langoustines, filet of salmon and the grilled seabass. The food was good, but the chef could maybe reduce a litlle bit on the amount of butter... More

We went to Leith, a district of Edinburgh located at the North Sea marina area well away from tourist areas. It was charming and we walked all over the area. We passed many restaurants, settled on lunching at this one which had been recommended to us. We sat at an outside table and it felt very much like Provence. Ordered... More

I recently visited this restaurant during lunchtime with friends after researching on the internet for good seafood restaurants in Edinburgh. Not disappointed. I had the fish n chips which was good and my wife had the seafood chowder and the fishcakes (as starters), both very fresh! My friend also tried the surf n turf (half lobster and rib eye) but...
