My wife loved her scallop starter. She has eaten risotto all over the world. Her main risotto was probably the best. My fishcake starter. The fact the steak I had for my main, from what is ostensibly a seafood restaurant, was one of the best I've ever had, says it all. Only slight issues were that the room was a... More

I took my husband here for his birthday & it was an absolute delight! Having never been before, I took a chance after I'd read other good reviews - so pleased I did! We were booked in at 2pm on a Sunday & were happy to find a busy, bustling restaurant with efficient, charming staff. The ambience was as perfect... More

The best way to enjoy this restaurant is on summertime afternoon. Great atmosphere and view to the sore. The portions are amazing and all of the seafood is local. Great fish and chips and lobster sandwich.

The decour was great, the food and wine choices even better! We had a special paella with loads of fresh, tasty seafood!

We visited the Ship on the Shore early Saturday evening after walking from Bruntsfield to Leith. The interior is vey nicely decorated although our table for 2 had cramped seating due to very narrow space between the table legs. Wine was good and the slice of cucumber with the sparkling mineral water was certainly the highpoint of the meal. Cullen... More

We did not book a table, and it was Friday evening, but because we were there at 7, we could have a table until 8. For us this was no problem at all, we were tired from visiting Edinburgh and just wanted a nice meal before returning to our airbnb. Staff was very friendly. We ordered half a lobster and... More

If you're in Leith, don't leave without visiting The Ship on the Shore. My boyfriend and I thought at first that it was a bit beyond our budget, but went in for the lunch menu (before 5pm) and stuck to a main and a couple of drinks - which turned out to be more than enough and very well priced... The Ship is immediately warm and welcoming as you soon as you step inside, very professional staff and it was very busy the night we visited even though it was after 9 before we arrived We had booked and given its popularity its very worthwhile to do so The seafood was fabulous, the wine list extensive and in glasses, carafes...
