At the last minute we decided to try McKirdy's. We walked in early without reservations and the owner was most gracious to accommodate us which I truly appreciated. His recommendation for that evenings special (chicken) which I ordered was spot on and delicious. However, my husband and son had a different experience. They opted to order a rib-eye which was... First ate here shortly after they opened and things have not changed if you want a steak you want to be here. also the rest of the menu is great too. Try the garlic prawn skewer on top of your steak or burger

Went for my boyfriends birthday last night after recommendations from friends and we were pointed to our table and left sitting at a table by the door for 15 minutes without any menus or acknowledgement from staff at all. Left and will not be back.

Dinner at McKirdy’s (17/Aug/14) was relaxing. Service was attentive. The Haggis Tower and mini sausages were excellent. Desserts were homemade and tasty. Just up Morrison Street from the Premier Inn.

We had to burgers, the one with haggis was really good but maybe too tasty, the one with blue cheese and brown pudding was good. The fries were really not amazing and the whine (as everywhere is in Edinburg) was too hot and lacked flavours. Waiters are nice people and very friendly. The room is small and noisy but comfortable.

Had an incredibly busy day with the Castle, Tattoo, Open top bus tour etc. One of our party happened to spot the restaurant on the way into the city centre. on our way back, tired and wet wanted a good hot meal with good drink at a reasonable price. We found it. McKirdy's what a little oasis. it's family run.... More

This restaurant is owned by a butcher so the cuts of meat are perfect. Reservations needed as it is a small restaurant, food excellent, casual atmosphere. One person had rack of lamb and there was lots of it, another had steak, the third person had medallions of beef layered with haggis. We all enjoyed our meal.

I thought we'd try this restaurant after reading a recommendation on the Lonely Planet website, and a quick look on their own website. We arrived at around 8:30pm on the Sunday, and the restaurant was reasonably busy (we sat in the main room to the right of the building). Our order was taken quickly, and we had to wait around...
