A great meal out

My partner and I had tea here tonight. The service was great, the menu offered great choice, and our food was delicious. My burger was enormous and incredibly tasty (The McKirdy Royale) and my partner's plate of pork ribs looked fantastic. A really great find!

Went here with a few of my team from work on 22nd December. A few guys, (who all of which had a few drinks before we arrived) and must say the service was top notch given the time of year and a full house. Food came out and if you like your steak you gotta try this place. Between us... More

Escaping from a busy City Centre and enjoying a fine meal at this family restaurant, the staff work hard to make sure that you are served well, I would suggest a booking as it is quite small and very busy. Food is tasty and well priced.

We came here on the 30th December, booked at short notice and they were happy to fit us in. Service was great and the food reasonably priced, this is a BYOB restaurant and the alcoholic drinks they served were reasonably priced, my boyfriend and dad had burger they both said they were really good and especially the home made coleslaw.... I have book the table for the 24th of December. Restaurant is not looking as anything special inside, and it can become quite noisy as is small. We have ordered the food, sauce was served in a small dip dish what we've been charged for as well. We find the service quite poor as restaurant was packed with some big... More

Mckirdy's is such a fab place to go. The food was excellent, the service was very very good, and also friendly. The ambiance was delightful. Good spacing between tables so didn't feel people were overhearing conversation. I have been going here on & of for the last 15 years & have never been disappointed. You can by on for £3... More

Very busy, but service very attentive. Steak tartare starter beautiful, but no quail's egg available on the night. Both steaks excellent and blue, as requested. Can't remember the puddings ! Great night.

I booked a table online using the restaurant website. We wanted to eat somewhere nice as we were celebrating my graduation. The staff were very accommodating with regard to my Mum's wheelchair. They helped us up & down steps within the restaurant with no quibbles. Also, they allowed her to order a starter & dessert only as she is not... More

This is a very small place tucked away discretely in Edinburgh, no fuzz, no gimmicks, just honest food. Love it! Don't expect to be impressed with decor, the real star of the show is the food, as it should be; I hate pretentious restaurants so this is how -in my opinion- restaurants should be This business is owned by a... Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
