Value for Money.

£6.20 for a 3 course lunch which has a choice of 5 starters, at least 10 mains and two deserts. What more could you ask for. Good food, friendly owner albiet a rather dated decor but that is part of its charm. For a VFM lunch this is the only restaurant I would recommend.

Visited this restaurant before going to the playhouse, looks holmly but infact is just a bit tacky and overdue a makeover. I ordered mussels to start which were chewy not fresh at all. We both had pasta for main which was ok, in my opinion pasta in an Italian restaurant should always be first class. there are hundreds of places... More

Best homemade pizza on a coal fire oven. Also best mussels ever. The sauce was amazing. I am always cautios when ordering sea food, but glad I did!! Too much food at a great price. Had to take half of the pizza home. Really good!!!

A friend had recommended this to me and was not disappointed. Yes perhaps it needs updating but what you get is good home made fare at a very good price. I will definitely visit again the next time I am in Edinburgh.

Friendly staff, occasionally a little rude telling us to put our phones away when simply sharing our experience by checking in on Facebook. Large group and we arrived slightly early, and we were made clear this was an inconvenience. A good value for money menu was provided however due to our large group size and the service was fast. Tasty... More

The food was good - especially for the money. But the waitresses were incredibly rude - especially the peroxide blonde with permed hair. We were a group of five. Only four mains arrived - they forgot one of them. They said a replacement would arrive in five minutes. Two people shared a main so no one went without. The replacement... More

Visited the jolly botanist today with 10 other adults and two very well behaved infants 2.5 and 3.5 years. As we waited for the meal, one adult decamped with the two kids to a nearby empty table to do a jig saw to keep them amused. They were asked by a gruff man who we later discovered was the owner...
