Firstly, this is a really small place so do book. I was lucky because I visited early evening on my own whilst on business. But the intimacy of this little place adds to the ambience. The waiting staff were excellent and attentive. I had a fillet steak, cooked superbly and the accompanying salad was very good too. I'd highly recommend... More

We visited here on a Sunday and what a treat we had ! The food was outstanding and the service was excellent! Very plentiful food with a large choice ! Several times I kept changing my mind! I ended up having the ribeye steak ! I couldn't eat it all as there was so much ! The home cut chips... More

The food was very, very tasty and a really nice menu which has fish and steak on it but something for everyone. My steak was beautiful, I had... More

Was in Edinburgh for the Great Edinburgh Run and wasn't sure where to eat but had been told to try Rose Street as it was just around the corner from where we were staying? The outside doesn't look much and it was quite easy to walk past but thankfully we did see it and only just managed to get in... More

I was going through some old receipts last week and suddenly realised I hadn't placed a review on here about Wildfire, I have decided to publish one in any case as it is definitely worth a visit. I visited with my wife and two friends in June 2014, for a 40th birthday meal. Having had lovely freshly prepared starters, we... More

Ate here recently with my wife and another couple. Had the most fantastic meal. King prawns in garlic butter followed by the best steak I have ever eaten. This place should be number one in Edinburgh. Great staff great restaurant would give it 6 out of 5 if i could

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
