Perfectly Cooked Steaks

We visited this small restaurant whilst on holiday in Edinburgh. The steaks are succulent and cooked to perfection. In the menu they have a guide to the different cooking options for steaks. Six diverse and 'picky' tastebuds all giving thumbs up and wanting to rebook ... this is a really lovely place to eat, but definitely book ahead. We covered the menu and specials, then the desserts😃 Helpful and friendly staff, nice ambience. Recommended.

Had not booked , called in early evening. The staff were very helpful and squeezed us in before a booking was due. Would strongly advise reserving a table at least a day or two before, as people were ringing and calling in on spec and they were fully booked. (Thursday eve) The reason being it serves fantastic food. Every course... More

We booked on the strength of the great Tripadvisor reviews and we were so glad we did! It's a small restaurant and we could only get a 915pm booking, although they did manage to take us early. The staff are exceptional and the food is amazing. We had only one small problem - we ordered bread as a starter as... More

My two sons and wife took me here for fathers day. The restaurant is quite small, which is why it is sometimes difficult to book a table, unless you do it well in advance. The atmosphere and restaurant itself are great. We had the haggis, rarebit and mussels for starters. We all agreed they were delicious, especially the haggis which... More

This tiny (9 tables inside and a few out on the patio) was lovely. The food was fantastic- fresh cheeses, meat that was tender and full of flavor and veggies that would make your mom proud. The staff is also wonderful and friendly. Would highly recommend taking time to dine here- but make sure you have reservations. We watched a... More

This is a very small restaurant on Rose street which serves excellent steaks. Even mid week out of season it was busy; we saw lots of people turned away as they hadn't booked. So, if you want to try it then book it! It is quite pricy but I think worth it.

We came here based on some Google research and have been definitely happy with it! A very nice waiter welcomed us into this tiny and cosy restaurant and was helpful since the very beginning. We had two soups and two steaks: the butternut squash, sweet potatoes and chilli was incomparable !!! I had lentils and bacon and was very happy... More

We walked in off the street late on a Monday based on some random googling. After a day of sightseeing, my friend and I were ready to eat something. Its a tiny place- prepare to bump into chairs and eavesdrop on the conversation all around you. That said, the food was superb! I had the last of the salmon specials... More

My wife and I were in Edinburgh for the night and decided to try Wilfire, what a stroke of luck! We are both in our middle fifties and enjoy dining out and have travelled a little bit, so we have eaten in many many restaurants, this venue may be small but it packs a huge punch in fine dining. The... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
