A hidden gem on Rose Street

We ate at Wildfire on Saturday night after attending the rugby, as a celebration of two of our birthdays, thankfully we had booked in advance as it was full and it appeared to be a busy place. It was our first visit and we hope to return again soon. I cannot fault anything about the evening; we... read more

I have been to Wildfire many times and always come away thinking 'What a fabulous place!' On my last visit I had the most beautiful steak, perfectly cooked, in a divine pepper sauce. My friend had the shellfish with chilli and lime and said it was the best she had ever had. Shoestring fries and the garlic green beans were... More

Ambling about on our 1st night in Edinburgh came across this place and liked the look of it. Fortunately we arrived at the right time because it filled up very quickly. Great food, friendly staff and a lovely intimate atmosphere. Can't understand the previous negative review as we thought it was excellent value considering the quality. Best meal we had... More

Prepare to feel well ripped off. We had good expectations of this place given the reviews and the nice look of the place. Edinburgh needs more Scottish restaurants serving just nice simple food instead of just tourist traps, this place though is definitely a tourist trap. Overpriced and cheap tasting, the only thing genuine about this place is the friendliness... More

Dear Hamish B, Although it is very disappointing to receive a poor review like this, it is difficult to know how to respond, as you have given us no details of the food you ate, or if there were any specific issues at the time. All we can really say is that we source the best possible local ingredients, cook... More

Fantastic meal @ Wildfire. Visited on 14/2/15 for lunch. Food was well presented, tasted fabulous and the service 1st class. Our waitress couldnt do enough to make it a great experience. A small gem with a great atmosphere. Definately will be back.

I must say the steaks were excellent but it feels quite cramped in there and had to squeeze between tables if you had to use toilet. The food definitely makes it worth the visit however!

Having read a lot of positive reviews, me and my husband decided to visit Wildfire during our trip to Edinburgh. We went there for a lunch. The whole restaurant is very small, around 10 tables, but very cozy and nice. Having an opportunity of trying the lunch menu, we decided to order some larger meals from a la carte: mussels... More

Dined here whilst in Edinburgh on a short visit. Food was very tasty and there were good portion sizes (apart from the custard). The atmosphere did let it down. Upon walking in it just felt 'cold', and borderline uninviting. The log burner feature (with candles) was nice. We just feel that for the prices we would expect linen (or some!)... More

Enjoyed a fabulous meal at Wildfire with friends. Starters: soup, pate, garlic mushrooms and haggis with cheese & peppercorn sauce. Main: 8oz sirloin steak - cooked as we asked, spicy salmon. Dessert: ice cream, the most amazing chocolate Drambui and orange cheesecake. Drinks: 2 bottles of wine and 6 bottles of beer. Cost: £189 - worth every penny All four... More

Visited for a birthday meal with my wife. We were looking for good steak and found it! Steak well-cooked and very tasty. A good wine choice and prices reasonable for Edinburgh. Our only criticisms were a limited choice of mains (we were happy, since we had chosen Wildfire for steak) and a lack of atmosphere on a Thursday evening.
