I write this review as it is happening. Currently on a business trip to Edinburgh. The restuarant is intriguing as you walk past largely due to its unique seating and decor which is really appealing. Bit tucked away from the hustle and bustle and found as you walk up towards the Royal mile from the Grassmarket. I have ordered a... More

Romantic and quirky place. Portions excellent and set lunch menu is a real bargain. Good wine selection and friendly service.

Whilst in Edinburgh at the weekend we came across Mainon Bleue on Victoria Street, great place for lunch, two course lunch for £9.90, you can't go wrong, I had hagis balls to start which were lovely and then mussells, the rest of the party had a mixture including venison stew we all really enjoyed the meal and great place to... Passed about 4 in the afternoon and booked an early table For 6pm, incredibly (we are NEVER) early arrived at 5.45 and placing our order before 6 got a pre theatre offer, our amazing steaks were therefore £20each including dessert!! When we asked about wine, our waiter, Homer suggested the wine of the month, a pinot noir, not only was... More

Had the prix fixe menu (and kicked ourselves for not coming during the "pre theater" hour when it is nearly half-off) and everything was delicious. Husband had the calamari and it was so incredibly good, I had the spinach and asparagus tart and it was out of this world. Really enjoyed our meal. Servers were pleasant and attentive.

A fantastic weekend up in Edinburgh which was rounded off perfectly by a tasty meal in a lovely restaurant. Attentive staff and great service. Fully recommend the calamari!

My wife and I were married in central Edinburgh on a week day morning in late May. We picked Maison Bleue for a reception lunch. Factors we considered were proximity to the wedding venue, the surroundings, cost, ambience and -not least- the quality of food and service. Maison Bleue excelled on all fronts. Located in pretty Victoria Street, the building... More

We booked in advance on a fairly busy Friday evening and the restaurant was quite full when we arrived, we were seated at a table at the top of the stairs which was constantly being passed by waiters and customers. The table beside us in the window was empty and when a table in the neighbouring room became available I... More
