Went there for dinner on 27 Aug. We had the calamari (w/ special secret sauce) and haggis as starters. Very impressed with both starters especially calamari had a spicy kick (this was perfect to me but it may be spicy for those who can't handle any spicy food so it would be better to advise customer before ordering). We then... More

We visited this restaurant for lunch on 18 Aug 2014. The staff were welcoming and the general ambience was pleasing. But that is where the good news stopped. Food I ordered confit of duck (slow cooked in goose fat) on a cassoulet with lardons. The duck may have been slow cooked but not that day and possibly not the day... More

Dropped in one evening during festival season and managed to get a table without booking after a 15 minute wait. The staff were rushed off their feet and didn't offer us a drink while we waited, but when I pointed this out they raised their game and gave us prompt service thereafter. Food was good, atmosphere was friendly, with a... More

Its always a bit of a nightmare getting a decent meal and a seat when the fesival is on. I have passed this place several times, but never thought to try it. I was attracted by the festival offer on the board outside of two courses for £12.95. We were greeted by the very pleasant staff, and seated immediately at... More

We had the fringe special menu on a Saturday at 4. There was plenty of choice. I had goats cheese croquettes, sea bream and cheese plate and my friend went for haggis balls, steak and sticky toffee pudding. A few soft drinks and a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. We couldn't really fault the food. I feel the wine list... More

We were lucky to have a table in the restaurant as it is always busy and we were walk-in customers. The food was excellent and so was the service. The one thing we did mind was the fact that a service charge (although optional) was automatically added to the bill. Nevertheless certainly worth a try when in Edinburgh.

It's a buzzy atmosphere, with fun kazbar style decoration, and the staff are friendly. Let down by the food though, as the food seems a bit old/squashed. The bread that arrived first was clearly from another day, the haggis balls a bit stodgy and the calamari were thin and greasy. Main course got a bit better, the lamb was plentiful... More

We loved everything about the way the restaurant is arranged, furniture, art, lighting. The service was outstanding, nothing too much trouble and of course the food was excellent! Not cheap but worth it for the experience.
