Food Very Good, Service Very Slow

Went at lunchtime and it was very quiet with only 3 tables of customers. For lunch the price was quite reasonable for the quality of food (8.50 for a main I believe). However, it took almost an hour once we ordered to get our food.

Hidden gem on Victoria street serving tasty food and drinks to both tourists and locals. Food delicious, prices were the standard norm for the area. I travelled solo, but while eating dinner I noticed a group of 15 showed up. I think they may need more staff given that the serving staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd. It was more... More

The place is lovely and the food was really delicious. We enjoyed it, the only bad thing is the smell of toilets that was quite strong next to us, so it spoiled the dinner and the experience. If they sort it out, the restaurant will be amazing.

If you are in Edinburgh (or even near buy) please try this Restaurant it is truly fantastic. I think they market it as Scottish-North African-French food which about covers it. A fantastic intimate place over two floors with loads of atmosphere and ambiance! The staff are so helpful and friendly yet professional, the drinks and food are really top notch... More

The heading of this review could be either metaphysical or crackpot. However, in context it is only the truth. I had spent at least 5 hours walking around the old town, Royal Mile and many of the attractions uphill in Edinburgh and had got to the point where I hurt from the waist down and was utterly exhausted, knowing that... Attentive service and good food. Not rushed although the place was not that busy. Atmospheric setting. Would return if we visit Edinburgh again.

Six of us went here for a family meal and we can safely say that we will be back again. That food was delicious. The service was great and the wine was exquisite. And for how much we ordered the bill was much cheaper than we expected. We all try a bit of each others food and everything we tried... More

we liked the look of this with its cosy interior and went back after walking round for half an hour. Friendly service and small perfectly cooked menu at reasonable £. Mix of scottish, french and african dishes. My Coq au vin was excellant and we shared a delicious dessert.

We were 3 couples that ordered a 3 course dinner with wine. The food was very good and so were the wine. We had different courses and everything was good. We can recommend this place.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
